As I was driving home through a storm, I started thinking.. HEY I MIGHT NEED A FUCKING UPS!?!?!

Ugh yea, so all my fucking lights went out at my apt....AS DID MY 400 WATT MH!!

So I've left it unplugged....i know you need to wait awhile before starting it up again after its turned off.....

Well i tried plugging it in and the fucking ballast is making a louder then normal buzzing noise?? Looks like some brown shit inside the bulb...

Is the ballast/bulb gone??? Am I completely fucked here???

HELP ME PLEASE...

**update**

If the light does come back on, should I keep it off anyways? They are on 18/6 right now and at 12... the lights would shut off. Would I be fucking up the cycle bad?? If they do come back on, has the bulb lost some of its output power?? Is the ballast fucked??

I had to call my Hydro store to ask about why my MH didn't fire up when I moved it from one plug to another. I was told that the MH has to cool down and then it will re-fire... sure enough 15 minutes later... LIGHT!!!

If yours didn't fire right up then it probably wasn't off longer then a half hour.... so keep your lights on the same schedule.

Of course... it wouldn't hurt to have a fire extinguisher ...... JUST IN CASE!!!! I keep one in my grow room :)

If the ballast got fried you should see and smell it.... it will be burnt. My cousin's house took a lightning hit... and every electrical receptical was FRIED! Check the plug outlet... if no burn you are ok....... fire it up and wait 15 minutes..... your lights should come on.

Hmmm...ok. I plugged the light back in and it powered right up. SWOOSH!

I guess I'm ok. I wonder if this ruined the performance of the bulb and ballast though? That's my real concern here.

Glad to hear it fired up. No... don't worry about the bulb performance... if it's on .... it's on and working properly... if you are really worried about it ....then unscrew it during it's off time and inspect it. I doubt you'll find a problem. :peace:

Hmm, if you would have read my entire post, which I don't think you did or your being real dumb, you would have seen that I said my lights went out. If you put 2 and 2 together, it all makes sense!

A UPS for a MH/HPS is gonna cost a fortune. I'd just hook up a few CFLs to a cheap UPS to keep the cycle alive.
