I need a fan that rubs the lotion on it's skin and does exactly as it's told.

Heh, I figured that title would get at least a few people to bite.

Seriously though, I need to get a new pedestal fan for my 8x8x10 room and I'm looking for some advice. I'm sick of buying piece of shit plastic fans from places like Target that don't push enough air. Some of the cheap(er) plastic fans seem to be fine, but others are just horrible. Some of them start out okay, but don't push air as well after a few months, or they fail altogether. I'm looking at some "industrial" pedestal fans though I don't really feel like spending $100+ for a fan unless it's worth the money. Some of those industrial fans are pretty costly.

Can anyone here provide me with a name and model number of a pedestal fan they use and like a lot? It doesn't necessarily need to be an oscillating fan, but it's needs to have adjustable speeds. I need the fan to not only blow over the canopy of my plants, but also push air through a 1000W hood to keep it cool. I would rather not buy some random fan from Amazon sight unseen and then want to smash it to pieces when I find out that it sucks. Thanks in advance for any advice.

Vortex n dont look back
Cool, I didn't think about Vortex since I was envisioning a pedestal fan. I have a V series that I used as an exhaust fan in a former grow room. I used it for 10 years almost non stop. I haven't needed it since I got my current room going, but I still have it. If I was looking just looking to vent the hood it would definitely work. I guess I could rig up some kind of pedestal or wall mount for it, but I could see that being an ass pain.

I'm hoping for something more portable. Something that will move air through the hood and hit the top of the plants at the same time. I want to be able to move it around and raise/lower it depending on the needs of the plants. I have a cheap plastic pedestal fan blowing through my other 1000W hood and it's doing fine. I've had that fan for years and it moves air pretty well. The top of the hood doesn't heat up at all with that fan. It's no longer available though so I can't get another one.

I have enough to get a OH MY GOD fan if need be. I'm just looking for options that don't necessarily cost 3 figures. Realization is starting to set in though. I'm probably going to have to spend to get what I want. I was looking at the fan in the link below. It checks all the boxes and could also be used in the house. Also the 5 year warranty.

https://www.amazon.com/Vornado-Pedestal-Vintage-Circulator-Green/dp/B01BF3XYO4/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1469065341&sr=8-2&keywords=vortex+air+circulator+pedestal

This one here looks more fitting for a grow room.

https://www.amazon.com/Air-King-9420-Industrial-Pedestal/dp/B000CASCMG/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1469065795&sr=8-3&keywords=industrial+pedestal+fan&refinements=p_72:2661618011

I'll spend this kind of money if I have to. It's not a big deal. I'm just looking for other options first.

That 9418 is almost $150 on Amazon, but I see it at the link below for $125. I can handle that. Hey........ waaaaaaait......... the cheapest shipping option is $64. Yeah, f that. It's not even like I live on some hidden acre on Oahu. I live in CA and I'm right in the thick of it. Back to Amazon. $150 + tax is where the bar is set for now.

In that case I guess I'll just go with the Air King 9420. It's only a few dollars more.

Nope, I decided to get the funky looking green Vornado that I linked a few posts above. It cost another $20, but the 5 year warranty is what sold me. This fan is going to be running pretty much ALL the time and other fans I looked at all had a 1 year warranty. The fact that it raises to 55" is also nice. Sometimes I have to raise the hoods up that high and this fan will be able to hang. It was about $190 all in.

Check out some reviews or 1 vs 1 on YouTube. I saw a cool Vortex (supposed the silly to build) getting ass kicked ..
