I believe the Earth is growing because it absorbs solar radiation, and E=MC^2

I believe the Earth is literally growing in mass and size because E=MC^2, or if you use a little algebra, M=E/C^2... In English, Mass is equal to Energy divided by the speed of light squared (C^2). So the more energy you have, the more mass you will have because mass is just a different form of energy and conversely, energy is a different form of mass.

So as we all know, sunlight hits the Earth every second of the years. This energy is being converted to mass, I believe, because of plants and whatnot. So the plants are the catalyst in converting the solar radiation to mass. This is just a theory of Mine, I'm not sure if its proven or not but it makes a lot of sense to Me.

This could potentially be why the equator is slightly larger then the north and south poles, because there are more plants near the equator and it absorbs more solar radiation.

The rate at which the earth is growing is the rate at which the plants are absorbing solar radiation, with the equation M=E/C^2. So the more plants and the more solar radiation, the more the Earth will thus grow in proportion. As a side note, the plants also need CO2 and nutrients and water also, as most growers know, but this is a given.

This is just another theory of Mine, I'm not saying its fact or anything but it sure does make a lot of sense to Me. I'm not saying the Earth is growing a lot, but a little bit each day, and over time it might be considered a lot of growing. Maybe I just discovered that the Earth is in fact literally growing in mass and size, but I didn't just discover this, I discovered this a few years ago.

Its My belief, and just a pure belief, that the Earth is growing.

Can anyone refute My belief in this? Why do you think its true or not true? Am I missing anything here?

agree with the others, philosphy is fun and all, but its much better with a good foundation. and uhhhhhh yeah the earth is growing, TONS and TONS of space debris falls here every single day. sure we shoot some back up there, but i bet more falls down overall.

pretty sure the equator is larger than the poles because the poles are axises....plants take solar energy and turn it into mass.....funny, my grows require more than light....water for example and fert.

Most of you guys are more knowledgeable about science then little old Me. I'm a science aficionado but I don't study it much.

But My counterpoint to you all is this;

Why are the dinosaur bones buried deep beneath many layers of soil or rock?

Why are are the fossil fuels buried deep beneath the earth? Where did all this dirt and rock come from to go on top of these fossil fuels?

Why are there many layers of soil and rock from different times in earths history? Why are there so many layers?

I believe this is all the evidence you need to see that the earth is indeed growing. Is this another one of My logical fallacies?

These videos are proof that the earth is indeed growing, but My theory is that the earth is growing because M=E/C^2 and the plants are the catalyst to induce this growth. This is My novel theory, I'm not saying its right but I'm not saying its wrong either.

We know its a fact that Mass can be converted to Energy, i.e. nuclear bombs, but why not turn energy into mass like I'm postulating? People tend to forget that M=E/C^2 too. Granted, it will take a shit load of energy to create a small amount of mass, but regardless, it seems possible to Me.

Tyler, I'm very curious to watch your videos/links but I only have an hour a day (or so) to go on the internet each day. I'm at a club house right now. My mother stopped paying for the internet at our house so I'm at a disadvantage compared to you guys that can go online all day long.

Cannibineer was nice enough to answer your question. Dude, how do you think land is created? Most of it is made from magma that is spewed from deep inside the planet. That mass was already here, it simply went from the interior of the planet to the exterior. Also, as plant and animal life perish, that creates more sediment layers, and that mass was also created from what was already here...

Aren't these from a comic book dude? You love science, but you use a comic book artist's asinine ideas as your source of knowledge? There were ancient super continents such as Gondwana and Pangaea that split and drifted into today's land masses, what is so hard to understand?

I love science and I intend to study more of it in the future. I'm a fan of science because I went to school for (electronic) engineering and I learned a lot about it, but I also forgot a lot too. Science is the gateway to more advanced technology and I appreciate technology. Technology is the ability to advance. I'm a big fan of advancements.

I agree that magma/lava can produce new lands, like islands and whatnot, but there are only so many volcanoes around the earth.

I also agree that animals and mostly plants create new sedimentary layers over the existing soil, but the difference in our beliefs is that I believe its extra- from NEW material.

You should watch more of the "conspiracy videos" that try to explain that the earth is growing. I'm sure most of them are not from a comic book, dude.

Yes what you are saying has merit, photons however are near massless and are not capable of converting into any other form, unlike neutrons, protons and electrons, which are interchangeable and will always change according to their mass. Neutrinos as you may know are capable of passing right through the earth because of their extremely small size and density. Keep in mind that the earth may also be giving off mass as it expends energy through space, which is a fabric and is ultimately the governor of all space-time.

I think maybe you are denying gravity a little in this theory also honestly.......reason I bring up fossil fuels being mostly plants is because the next new deposits buried deep under those new layers of rock soil and other crusty things is all around you right now and came from what is already sloshing about on the surface and from what was spewed from within......which is also what was once on the surface......gravity.....iron has a lot of it.....so the matter in plants comes from earth and the catalyst is the suns radiation.....you make it like the radiation creates matter.....my point is photosynthesis doesn't create new matter......and that the equator is a larger diameter than the poles because of acceleration......ever been to the drag strip and seen the top fuel dragsters light up the big back tires during a burnout??? think of the tires as the equator and the axle as the poles.....the tires dont weigh more when they're spun up, hope that helps.

Really? How many volcanoes? Just ONE super-volcano (there are six, like the one under Yellowstone Park) has the potential to erupt spilling millions of tons of debris across the ENTIRE planet. It will block out the sun for decades, killing much of the plant life, hence animal life, on Earth. There are about 600 active volcanoes on Earth, and an unknown amount of submarine volcanoes. There have been millions of erupting volcanoes since the birth of our planet, it shouldn't be so hard to believe they are the source of our land masses...

It is the highest form of knowledge we possess, made up of many laws and facts, that has great predictive power.
