Hydroponics VS Soil (plz read)

I don't think anyone mentioned that soil growers eventually have to dispose of a bunch of soil, while hydro growers (if they use expanded clay) can reuse their medium forever.

Debating which is better is like debating religion there are too many variables.

its much easier to prevent root rot in hydro too. i didnt know my last plant that i harvested had root rot till i harvested. i suspected it because of the signs i saw in the leaves but couldnt verify it till i chopped it and was disposing of the soil. soil can get expensive too if your doing a large number of plants

I've never done hydro but from what i hear soil when done right (compost in the soil, organic tea fertilizers made from guano, Etc.) will have better taste and potency, but hydro will give you much bigger yields and faster grow time. it seems hydro would be hard at first, but the same can be said about mixing compost and making organic tea ferts for your soil. they give you diff effects, choose which one based on what you want to get out of your plants.

For me its the control, I am normally a control freak anyway so it just goes to show.

Like norml said, soil growers have to get rid of it, we just flush down the drain. or like me i dump it on my outdoor veggie garden ( 3 foot tall lettuce LOL).

Dumping down the drain? I avoid this, i just dump it near a tree or in the back yard. Reason being is I remember reading a book, cant remember the name but it stated how dumping your nutes down the drain can cause an increase of algae growth and other things in the sewer which cause problems later on and can be traced back to your house... now this could be paranoia from the person who wrote the book, but Its just stuck in my head and Ive done it for years.

I take my left over nute water and put it back in jugs. I use it for the house plants and in our outdoor garden. I mean for our veg. garden. The house plants love it as well as the garden. I use rockwool and I can't reuse it the stuff is so intertwined with the roots forget it. It is the only thing I throw out in my garbage. I do it one at a week till it is gone. The rest of the stuff I burn in my fireplace. My 0.02. OVERGROW AMERICA!

lots of different opinions , each to his or her own i say ,i use hydro in winter ,and outdoor organic in summer as we have great weather in oz.
i like both , i have no problems with taste or yield from either ,and i get bigger yields outdoors but that is only because i have a lot bigger plants .
both give me pleasure watching the girls grow , and i enjoy doing things in a different way , it is just a personal choice as to how you grow ,so try what ever takes your fancy ,i like it both ways ,NOT IN THE BEDROOM THOUGH.also depends on your experiance we all have fucked up at sometime ,just grow and learn what is best for you,and grow nice buds to smoke with your mates ,they wont complain if it is hydro or organic.:peace::peace::peace:
