when using Jacks cal+N & Hydro, besides epsom and cal mag, would you need to be using their soluble trace as well? just looking into this...

Generally, we use a two part mix and amend it for our situation. Part one is calcium nitrate. Part two is the hydroponic nutrient mix, something like 5-11-26. This mix should have the micros included, so more would be unnecessary.

As I just mentioned above, MKP and epsom salt are the only two amendments you'll need. Epsom salt supplies additional sulfur and magnesium and MKP is 0-52-32, lots of phosphorus in there to use as a bloom booster.

Gotchya. The Jacks didnt mention a full micro list that i could see, but >THIS< is what I figure you are using which I se does list full micro. I wonder if they ship to The North. I'll have to keep looking around up here.

I see no reason why not. By the way, we've just saved you a fucking fortune in nutes compared to the water bottle scam at the hydro store.

Aye, use that- it's the perfect stuff.

Then you'll want some MKP and epsom salt and you'll have everything your plants need.
You had any experience with company's that don't take regular online orders?. I'm a little dubious of it, also seems like they may not do smaller scale.

Your best bet is to ask them about local distributors and try to buy from one close to you.

Well, once I track down the parts i'll be on it. I am currently on Maxibloom via LF, so already in the right direction.

What kind of formulas you guys cooking up for V & B?

* not trying to get someone to hold my hand, just thinking the CN might not be needed when using a 5-11-26 mix

The mix and the calcium nitrate are meant to be used together, like an A B nutrient. This is good so the grower can vary the relative amounts of nutes.

I get that it is an A + B regiment, but it looks to have enough N in just the B part of the series. Adding the CN would be almost more of a Cal addition than needing that N. I wonder if using Poolshock in the form Calcium hypochlorite might be enough if your using that for a sterile res anyhow.

ok, I have an order of Calcium Nitrate and Plant Prod (a Canadian company) 6-11-31 Hydroponic dry nutrients.

If I mix them up 1/1 I will have an NPK ratio of 3 - 1.5 - 4.4, that should be pretty ideal I think.. for both veg and bloom.

@ttystikk your veg ratio I saw in another thread is 3 - 1.8 - 4.3 and your bloom 3 - 2.4 - 4.4

is MPK boosting your flower by 0 - 0.6 - 0.1 really helping out?

Open Question:

Is using Potassium Sulphate advisable trying to increase K alone as a bloom booster instead of MPK?

It seems to be working very well for me.

Some info on potassium sulphate (K2SO4) here. (NPK = 0-0-50)

KSO should help increase terps/trics with the added sulphur content?

For anyone growing purple or colourful strains may want to use KSO as a bloom booster, the lack of increase in P may aid in pronounced colour coming out at the end of flower, simulating the cooler weather deficiency effect..?

Possibly using these as bloom booster may be beneficial?:
- MPK during the "2-4" weeks of flower for early and additional flower growth/onset
- KSO for the last week or two, especially if temps are high & plants are transpiring heavily
- possibly Potassium Nitrate (KNO3, NPK= 13-00-45) has a place in the mix as well for early flower stage (wk 1-2)?

I think I may be onto something here, someone with a better botany background might be able to chime in?

Perhaps I am over-thinking things.. or just not understanding.. or maybe they are good ideas but not in that order, or maybe just plain horrible idearzzz

It depends on whether you get your Mg from magnesium sulfate or magnesium nitrate. If you use magnesium nitrate, you can use potassium sulfate as a source of potassium. If you use magnesium sulfate, you probably have enough sulfate and you're better off using potassium nitrate to get K. (if you're trying to avoid adding more P).

Edit: I should add that if your NPK is 3 - 1.5 - 4.4, you probably don't need more K. That's already a good NPK. I'd actually go with the MKP as a bloom booster with those base nutes and avoid adding both potassium sulfate and potassium nitrate.
