Hydrochloric Acid to sterilize, anyone else using it?

Hi fellas,

Anyone else try using hydrochloric acid to clean their systems? I mixed enough hydrochloric acid into five gallons of water to get the ph to 0.7. It removes salt buildup immediately and the buckets look clean and brand new.

However, Im wondering. Does this kill all the pathogens at the strength Im using it?

Sulfuric acid works better. You can get a quart of 35% at the auto parts store inexpensively. Just tell them you need to fill a dry motorcycle battery. Ph down in the form of phosphoric acid is still the best because the plants love Phosphorous. Sulfur and Chlorine are micro nutes while Phosphorous is a macro nute. I've never used acid to clean a system but it may work?? I use Physan20 to clean everything. I keep a gallon bucket of water with a couple teaspoons of Physan20 and 1/2 cup of H2O2 in my grow room to store my res tools (not meters) in so everything is kept sterile. That stuff kills anything it touches and it breaks down into nitrogen. It can be used in a res for an emergency root rot treatment but that's another story.

30% or higher food grade h2o2 (hydrogen peroxide) will sterilize your res, and won't do anything but oxygenate your plants roots. I'm also betting its cheaper, although I haven't looked at hydrochloric acid prices.
