How to properly rehydrate buds while curing

No, I'm asking you. How? Lettuce you say? Fine. How much per pound? How long do you leave it in? Do you swap lettuce pieces out or keep the same one. Details, s'il vous plait.

Okay, wait. My RH is high (low 70's)- 3rd day in jars, been burping them every 4 hrs. for a couple minutes and NO MOISTURE has been seen yet!!

So should I just leave them in the jar for an entire day w/o burping them and see if that works, or just go right to the remoisten stage?

Gracias,

  • The one about airplanes? Yes. It's awesome!

What I can't figure out is how to deal w/ HIGH RH and DRY BUDS. It's an oxymoron, really. I think I want to attack dry buds first- that's why I'm asking about rehydrating. Currently, I am jarring them for 12 hours and raising the temp from 65 to low 70's to try and rehydrate and lower RH. What I don't know is if I'm screwing myself in the foot by filling the jars up 90% which I think is artificially bringing the RH up so high. I feel like if the jar was 3/4 full the RH would be much lower, but I dunno.

But, in 3 hours, if the buds are still CRISPY, I'm thinking they need to be REHYDRATED- On this note, 1) Should I seal em back up another 12 hrs first? or 2) Rehydrate w/ some tasty lettuce??

    Thoughts...

Got it! I was looking at a diff. one that was quoting you and using airplanes as an analogy. Well, shit. Where can I get one of these things now? I don't wanna wait for ebay.

take a bottle cap and put a wad of paper towel in it. wet the paper towel but not dripping wet. wrap a piece of tape around to hold it together but not seal it completly. place inside the jar and close it up. check it in 3 or 4 hours. repeat if needed or add two caps in if really dry.

you may want to split it up into 2 jars so its not too full.

I use hydrated paper towels when I want to raise the RH inside jars.
You can use just a small piece of paper, wet it gently and place it inside the jar.

You have to be careful and watch the jar though, even a small piece of paper can hydrate an entire jar rather quickly.
Especially if you have a 70% RH.

I would not leave the jar closed for 24 hours if you place wet material inside the jar(s).
