How to keep your roots white and healthy.

Hello all,

I am using a DWC bucket grow for this next plant, and I need some help figuring out how to keep my roots white and clean.

I see so many dwc grows where their roots are just as white as white can get.

I always end up with brown stained roots, and most of the time I have at least a little root rot due to temps.

I have the temperature issue taken care of this time, but what about the brown staining. Is that just caused by the nutes I am using, which btw are Fox Farm [bigbloom, growbig, and tigerbloom.]?

Why is fox farm so bad?

I mean this grow I did last year was done with fox farm and look how it turned out.

Also I said that I had the temp issue taken care off already, thanks for the tip though.

Yeah, the FF is whats making your roots brown and slimy. Switch to a chemical fertilizer like I did and your roots will be sparkly white again.

But if you don't care about discolored roots and slimy water, the FF nutes work just fine. They are just better suited for soil grows.

Do you have any recommendations for Hydro nutes?

was wondering the same thing im using all the FF nutes and i have the same problems....is this actually a bad problem? my last grow went by great with FF nutes did have a couple problems with brown roots but nothing that actually mattered as far as i know. but i have noticed some bad smellls from my res....possibly from the FF nutes....what do all yall think

I have 3 plants in a drip system, "the church" had tiny short roots and was fine, but my other two "chocolope" and "easy ryder" kept getting brown slimy roots. Hydrogen peroxide was one recommendation for this. I started using it and its make a huge difference. Also I took the plants that were brown and slimy and rinsed the roots real well under running water and then i let them air dry for an hour or two. Few days later everyone is looking good again.

I'm rockin the Fox Farms nutes. The 3 pack with all 3 solubles and things are going great. I've only ever used 1/4 strength the entire grow. My current grow is at day 44. Grow Big definitely turns them brown but I have no bad smells and my water actually comes out the color of the soluble. This week its green tinted from the BEasty Bloomz. I'm not as concerned with white roots especiall if things above the lid look good. https://www.rollitup.org/dwc-bubbleponics/297794-my-bubbleponics-re-circulator-pics.html

You dont know what your talking about...

And I read somewhere that you dont even own a freakin' ph meter!!!

You need to check ph and ppm, or use there schedule or both.

Dont knock it until you grow in the right manner fuzzy.

Fox Farms works Great! :weed:

Look at my links, My plants are healthy as fuck.

i used them how whole last grow and i didnt have many problems either got some bad smells but im pretty sure it was from a light leak and not the nutes....i just dont like big bloom that much....i always go light on it...cus when i still have my pumps in it clogs the tubes and i think if anything that is what turns the roots brown...because it is brown lol. but i think after i use what i have of these FF nutes....next grow ill prob change it up to something that is ph balanced and soluable...not hating on them at all though they have done great for me.

Fox Farms rocks my world! Look at my 9 dwc bubbler bucket grow.. you decide :)

The ones that put fox farms down are the growers who did not use the feeding schedule, or did not use a ph, or ppm meter.

They just throw the shit in the reservoir without checking out things in the right way.

Then they talk smack about the products..

Its bullshit.

Please check out my grow in the link below. :)

I wouldn't use H2O2 with Fox Farms nutrients. You'd really have a mess if you did.

I have used h202 in previous grows, but mostly as a preventative measure for root rot. I have never thought about using it to keep the roots white. You would think the amount needed would damage the roots.

I wouldn't be too worried about the h202 damaging the the fox farms biological components so long as your using it in the correct ratios.

i use a clear bucket and i get to see the root growth!!! its awesome! here is a pick at 4 weeks from seeding. its my girst grow so i have made a couple mistakes (nute burn) but all in all i think i am doing fine. i have two hallide bulbs on it and it has been lst'd. plz help me if you think there is anything i can do diferent or should know. thank all and good smokin.
