Hi Guys!! As we're always dreaming of going away and experiencing new horizons, I'm wondering how many of us hold a valid passport.

I do... it's got stamps from Lisbon Morocco CAN Puerto Rico... it's so old too.. it's no longer valid..I have not left the country in 2 years and then I just went about 40 feet into Can...

dont remember Lisbon at all..

Morrocco was wonderful I was 3-4 years then and remember walking thru town and all the ladies loved to touch mine and my brothers hair (we were blonde) and majority of the people there were not..

My folks hired a Moroccan "nanny" it was some of the Navy wives who banded together and hired out locals women to help them get work since the area was so impoverished, my mom still did most of the house work the Nanny was there mainly for her bead work I think.. When we left the area the Nanny made these incredible glassed beaded slippers for my mom, the only way I remember this is one day my brother and I were snooping for Christmas gifts and saw these and forgot to put them back in the same spot.. Mom told us the story..

Remember all of Puerto Rico ages 4+ best freaking beaches I have seen to date!

Remember all of Can (Thunderbay area ) CAN is stunning...

I got one awhile back when I went to Aruba. Have used it several times since. It expires sometime in 2015. I think.

We'll have to get a passport for the little one for our China trip. Under a certain age they're only valid for 2 years. I think.

I'll never forget the time I was visiting with a buddy at a convenience store (about 2 am) and a group walks in. They were all huddled together and whispering. They looked scared. Then one of them walks up to me and asked if I spoke English. My buddy is Navajo so they didn't even bother asking him. I was a little shocked. I didn't answer right away so one of them tried speaking Spanish to me. HORRIBLE Spanish. I couldn't even tell what the fuck he was trying to say. Then he asked me in English if we take "American money". He pulled out his passport and showed it to me and said, "American".

They had crossed the border between Colorado and New Mexico and were headed for California. They were from Michigan. They had no idea New Mexico was a state. We had a good laugh and I showed them a monthly article in New Mexico magazine called, "One of our fifty is missing". It highlights stories about the common misconception that New Mexico isn't part of the Union. You'd be surprised how often it happens.

Then there was the time a lady almost drove through the front door. She ran in screaming that "something" was chasing her and trying to get in the car. While she was driving down the road. But that's a story for another time.

Mine expired years ago. We went on a road trip to Costa Rica one summer in middle school catching moths and butterflies, another summer we drove to Belize, so I've been through Guatemala twice in a Ford 250 with a camper. We had an inflatable boat and went diving, fishing, etc. One year we brought an oxygen tank and some aquarium bags, made traps and caught fish/eels we smuggled home and had some badass aquariums. If you only put 1" of water and fill the bag with pure oxygen they live for a week.

We also picked peyote and tripped in Belize. Even went scuba diving which was so badass staring at big ass fish in clear water tripping.

Valentines Day baby! Great pics!
Sadly we used slide film because it was cheaper than prints, so my uncle has millions of slides of all our memories sitting somewhere. Those were some he scanned for me, we had millions though, he supposedly just got a scanner that can convert them so I can't wait. We spent 6 weeks driving to Costa rica so we took our time. He now lives there full time. My dad died when I was 10 and my hippy uncle took me under his wing, but he's pretty unconventional lol we used to go to baja all the time, every 3 day weekend pretty much. Then my mom found out about tripping on peyote and growing pot when I was 11, then she moved me across the country.

are you saying that it's common for american people who end up in new mexico to think they are in another country because they don't know that new mexico is a state? what the fucking fuck?

it reminds me of an argument i once had with a friend about whether or not india was in asia. she was all, "dude, it's in the fucking MIDDLE EAST". i explained that the middle east was also in asia but india is generally not considered part of that region and she almost busted an artery arguing with me. it was hilarious having her name all the continents (which she was somehow capable of) and watching the bulb light up.

not understanding basic geography of your own damn country after 16+ years of formal education is on a whole other level, though. even if you can't fill in a map from memory you should at least be able to identify whether a place is a state or not. holy shit.

I've always had a passport. Unsurprising really as neither of my parents were born in the UK. When you're a UK child you go on your parents passport. There used to be tempory UK passports (UK- remember those peach coloured card 1 year passports?). I've had a few of those too. I can live without a car and bike driving licence but not a passport.

I started going abroad at the age of 16. By my early 20's I was off to SE Asia backpacking (3times!) By 27 years old I left the UK altogether. I can't imagine living in another country right now but I wouldn't rule it out.

I've heard that 'Mericans will do the same in Alaska. Asking if US Dollars are good there, and what is the language type of ridiculousness.

What’s the State Exchange Rate?

One morning, while Dan Waring of KD Farms, in Belén, was out helping some customers at the farm’s roadside stand, a young lady driving a Subaru with Oregon plates stopped to buy some produce. When she went to pay for her goods, she realized she was short of cash. She went to her car, came back a minute later, held up a 20-peso note, and asked, “You guys accept pesos here, right?” Dan laughed, said “Sí,” and accepted the bill. She grabbed her produce and drove off, a satisfied customer!
