how long til sex shows?

hey, first grow from seed here, wondering when you guys think i'll see sex. i've got four og18xskunk in the front here, and the others are pure afghan, two of the afghan are growing slowly and i'll probably throw away their weak asses soon. all the og18xskunk is growing beautifully though. they're a little over three weeks old.

I'd say two more weeks or so if you leave your light on 18-24 hrs/day. If you were to switch to a 12/12 light schedule you would force the sex to show; just be sure to remove the males asap (assuming you don't have feminized seeds of course, otherwise, you most likely wouldn't be asking about sex). Keep in mind that the plants can double in height once on 12/12.

yea i don't really want to flip the lights to 12/12 just to force sex because thats a good bit of stress, i can wait until i see preflowers on 18/6 in a couple weeks, thanks guys.

about 2-3 weeks after you change your lights into flowering cycle. Males will probably show theirs first. But wait and make sure it's a male before you kill it.

Hey, you don't have to sex clones. If you've got 2 really good female plants as your mothers, just keep the new ones in veg and they will turn out female. A clone is a literal clone of the mother plant. You also should keep one of the mothers in flower cycle while the other is in veg and switch off. And take clones from the mom in veg. That way you always have a nice plant to get buds from, and a nice plant to get clones from, even at first when clones are tiny.

dude read the whole thread before come talking like your all smart, i'm trying to sex these seedlings to get one or two good females to mother. and i'm not going to flip the lights to 12/12 just to see what sex they are and revert, too much stress on my babies. what i am saying is... instead of forcing flower to show sex, top all my plants, (as in cut the top of the plant), and clone the tops... while all the big rooted plants are still in veg, put the clones under a 12/12 cycle so that THEY will show me the sex of THEIR mother/father. get it????

I never acted smart. I simply answered what I thought your two questions were after I DID READ THE WHOLE THING, which is what I figured you'd want since you had a question. And yes I understand now, I was just trying to help with what I thought your situation was, don't have to attack me for answering from the wrong angle. And yeah that'll work, but chopping the top off is still a lot of stress (could be equal or worse to changing flowering)

It's all good. I'm not worried about it. I actually have never heard of topping. I've only made clones from node sections. Most of what I do is outdoor, and I don't even make clones most of the time.

Showing gender in Veg? I have never seen or heard of this. If I'm missing something please let me know. I just started growing last year and in that time only twice. Knowing something like that would help me out greatly. But I don;t remember any remarkable difference in the plants at that time. I can tell genders apart, but I couldn't until flowering on my grow.

What is a preflower? I've only grown outdoors before this time and I don't know if I saw anything you could call that. Is it the little leaves that grow at the nodes? I have 3 that are at about 5-6weeks, it's my first indoor. And I would love to be able to tell wheat they were without switching the lights.

I've only seen this happen 2 times since i'm still new to growing... but my first grow i let my bitches veg til they were about 18" tall and that was when i first saw those sweet white hairs that every man and woman love to see when they are growing with bag seed. stay high

oh and by the way just cause my plant was 18" tall didn't mean that was the magic hieght for showing sex. My plant was mature enough at that stage that it showed sex. stay high
