hey I'm just wondering everyone stance on trimming, do you do it fresh (as in you trim it right after you cut) or do you trim it dry (trimming off large fan leaves and leaving the rest to trim once crispy and dry)???

I've been doing a little of both and found if you trim dry it will have a much much stronger smell than trimming wet. and I've found i have to cure it a few extra days when i trim wet.

some pics :)

Ya, wet is the best way to do it. Otherwise your bud might have a green leafy taste and smell to it.

When I harvest, I take off all leaves that I can remove whole..leaving only the intertwined sugar leaves. When the outside becomes "crispy", I trim the remaining sugar leaves.

I find this method to give the best finished flavor for my strain. The plant dosen't know it's dead right away, and intact leaves will continue to try and "feed" the plant..reducing chlorophyll and nitrogen...if you trim the fan leaves wet, the remaining life energy of the plant goes to sealing the cut leaf tips...that's my un proven theory however...

the main thing is let them dry slowly..no matter how you trim..then give them some time to cure..if you want the best flavor...

I'm with you on that one Bob, if i have to chase it, it can stay there until things get crispy...

alot of people have been arguing with me saying that trimming dry is harder and you loose more thrichs... and like mentioned about a leafy taste...

Yeah Streets, to each their own. I've down it both ways and prefer what I'm doing now. I work over a glass table and made my own dry sifter, so I don't worry about it too much. I dry for about 11-14 days and then it hit the jars and unfortunately, it's up to my patients to cure their own due to the law. Personally I try to always have a jar that has been cured for at least a month, but think 3 is the bee's knees. Just my patients don't let it stand around that long and the vast majority of my crops have been going to Simpson oil.

looks like you have a trim pro also, I trim all by hand. To be perfectly honest, I'd be more worried about using a machine over trimming dry.

I will cut off all intermediate leaves and trim but leaving main fan leaves to hang and dry. Then I clip them when I put into jars to cure with hygrometers.

Seems is everyone does similar stuff, I cut some down 2 says ago and I can qlready tell the one I'm waiting to dry trim smells amazing, while the other smells like hay if grass... Dry trimming from now on!

Caught me using the spin pro! That thing works so good for popcorn buds that I would never go without using it.
Obviously hand trimming is the consensus, which I can agree on.

I like the hygrometer In with the cure, does it have min/max setting? Also what kind of container do most of you cure in? I'm rocking masen jars

Yes it does and I do them in large mouth Quart jars. Just fill bud up 3/4 way and put in hygrometer, wait 24 hours to get accurate reading. You will see if its going up by the hour over your mark then you know its more dry time.

Hand trimmed is the bomb..but for large harvests is very time consuming. I only flower 4 plants at a time..so I can hand trim, but nothing wrong with a trim machine..my buddy's got one..and they do save a ton of time

I can't help to think of the resin being smeared around in there, but then again I have never had too much to trim by hand.

For me the time it saves is nothing to the buds it has shaved too much off. Then again I grow only a few plants that are not for sale.
They do a nice job..and save a ton of time..but they "commercialize" the bud....most that use them don't mind the slight 'overtrim"..they are making oil or edibles anyway. But for the small time self grower...hand trim..it's just more better
