It's frigging High Times Medical Cannabis Cup 2011. I'm more than positive you'll be able to buy and smoke there easily enough. Legally or not is the bigger question. Michigan recognizes out of state patients with their card as long as they do not possess more than 12 plants or more than 2.5 oz.

Read over the Michigan medical law. I think it's stickied in this forum, or a link to it at least.

Are you kidding me folks?

Ill be enjoying the weekend in Detroit with my own best meds, good friends, and folks I enjoy listening to no matter how far I have to travel. Alaska comes to Michigan in support of both the Michigan Medical Marijuana Act, and High Times!:blsmoke:

Do I get any cannabis as part of my ticket price?
Due to Michigan law we cannot give away cannabis, which is why we’ve kept the ticket price as low as possible while still putting on a world-class event.

That kind of bums me out. They did say there will be an outside smoking section for patients. But it doesn't sound like there's going to be any samples.

Edit: After reading the FAQ for both Denver and San Fran they say almost the exact same thing. Has anyone ever been to either of those?

We have our tickets! VIP! Finding a room downtown was much more difficult. Heading down from da UP to party. Dispensaries being open or closed, this is going to be awesome! We found a room at the shorecrest on Jefferson. We will just take a short cab ride to Eastern Market. Can't wait.:

I live in Detroit and I can assure anyone who plans to come that downtown is the safest place you can be, there's probably 4 or more cops per block not to mention the state police and county sherriffs present. The casinos MGM, Greektown, and Motor City are in the area.
And yes there's plenty of parking!!

High Times wont answer my question of what happens when no dispensaries are on the tour, what then?
so you pay $60 to hang out and get stoned in Detroit?
No thanks.

Ill get high on the bathroom and close my eyes and with the smell its just like downtown,, except no homeless in my bathroom (yet)

Yeah, I asked a similar question about a week ago with no response yet.

Ok, hopefully I can clear a couple things up. I have worked downtown for nearly 4 years and I go to quite a bit of concerts/events there, and I literally work right up the road from where this is. I have NEVER had a problem with getting robbed or anything even close to that. This is all in a very safe area.

I have also never had a problem with the police when it came to smoking (I have sat and blazed on the lawn at festivals in Hart Plaza mere feet away from the police, this occured even before medical laws were even a thought here). They are mostly there for crowd control and to make sure nobody gets hit by are a car, there are very chill when it comes to a bunch of white kids running around on drugs(see DEMF), they are very much used to seeing it. Generally speaking, detroit cops are have very different attitudes than cops I have encountered in other michigan cities, like where I grew up and where I live now(st clair shores) and where I went to school(ann arbor). Most of them are likely to have seen some seriously real shit. They are not especially worried about you and you sack of bud, they are worried about dudes with guns and murders and other crazy ass shit like that. Where as cops in the smaller suburbs biggest concerns are teenagers partying.

Thanks for backing me up on downtown's safety factor Keef, and to the negative people I don't think High Times is going to post ads like this Cup is in the Dam, are you serious?.....I'm going regardless even if it's just to rub elbows, I never heard of any "Cup" without smoke there, never.

I second the Downtown is safe motion...this is 100% true. Now if you venture a little bit north...i can't help ya there lol. If you are at a corner and the two street signs say Woodward and Grand Ave. your are too far north =)
