Hi, I'm a newbie from the Midwestern US. We are undertaking our own indoor grow and looking at how to be successful. We are advocates to our legislators but it is slow going. Constantly seek projects and learning. Glad to be here! Will probably go to the thread regarding plant health since I've come out of lurking.

Hey there and welcome to RIU. I moved to CA from Neb. when I was 8... Can't beat the US for overall output of herb now! Makes me wonder how much we are producing nation wide now? I read a study done in 2006 stating:

Marijuana Production in the United States (2006)

Executive Summary

1) Marijuana is the largest cash crop in the United States, more valuable than corn and wheat combined.

That is AWESOME!!!!! Keep on growing!

Hey kitties.....One word of advice on being a political advocate....CAUTION!

I have seen those who go whole hog get busted and shut down by talking with congressmen, AG's and speaking freely in the press!
By all means speak with state congressmen! Do not speak with AG's or in the press where your name and/or picture is used!!! If you plan on opening a desp. when it's ok, then this rule is a MUST!
AG's are looking for any reason to make a "bust" and "prove" their point......State, local, and the AG's office look and read very carefully news reports on the subject! Several friends lost everything, including day jobs, from the AG's attacks on them!!!
You will be scrutinized,,,BE CAREFUL!

I at this time am working with "particular" state legislators from both sides of the fence "on the QT" about actually going legal in this state of mine. The biggest issue right now are the "rules" for it. DUI, Public Intox, and weight limits are the rights arguments. The left is concerned about getting the wording right for the laws of growing and selling (store fronts), because of how the Medical laws were a huge failure to go as planed here......

Tread lightly and good luck!

Thanks Doc. I probably should have used different language because, as you say, "caution" is the best watchword. I have more supported industrial hemp and decriminalization as part of broader topics. No interest in business or big grows or being in the spotlight. Thanks for the welcome. :peace:

Hi Final Phase, thanks for the welcome! Way back, industrial hemp used to be huge in this area too. Considering 2006 is almost 10 years ago, I can only imagine. No cash cropping here, though. Just personal and hoping to get it right!

I'm in the upper Midwest and suggest you keep air movement near the top of your list of things to consider. The combination of high humidity, closed-up rooms and high-power light bulbs will likely create heat/humidity problems sooner if not later. A couple things to consider - ceiling fans and portable box fans (most popular type is 20 inches). I have a perpetual grow and keep the ceiling fan in my flowering room turned to "LOW" 24/7. I have the reversible ceiling fan adjusted so that the fan pulls the air up. Heat rises so that means you should have cooler air coming in at floor level as the warmer air rises to the ceiling. I also leave that door open 24/7 unless environmental factors (like nosy neighbors or Jehova's Witnesses) prompt a temporary security upgrade. When the inside room temps creep towards 80 to 85 degrees I will put a 20 inch box fan in the doorway. Flip the fan around so it sucks air into the room. Also, might upclick the ceiling fan from "LOW" to the next higher setting. Be aware that using fans to increase air exchanges will dry a plant out faster and requires additional watering.

Good luck, BigSteve.

Thanks BigSteve, good advice. Luckily, my other (better) half rises early to draw air through house to garage, then lets it disappate through several exits. Along with some exhaust and other fumes. Also vegetables are healthy, especially, broc., onions, garlic, abbage. Ona, ozium, cleaning with vinegar too. Lol Keep movin' folks nothin' to see here!

We weatherproof our windows and door frames.

A good dose of all your suggestions, our own action, sprinkled with distrust and secrecy are hopefully in our favor.

 The future looks bright.

Fingers crossed, -OnlyCats
