Hermaphrodite Plants

Hi everyone,
I'm a newbie grower in my tenth day of flowering. Feminized Power Plant seeds I got from a reliable company. Everything has been going fine until now, save for a few small problems which the threads on this site have helped hugely. But now, I'm pretty sure most of my 5 plants have gone hermaphrodite. I have attached pictures to illustrate. My first questions is are they hermes for sure? and secondly what to do? Is it an option to remove the pollen sacks carefully to avoid pollination? I couldn't face choppin the lot. Any help would be great. I've put so much time and care in my babies I'm freakin out newbie style!!

yup they are hermies, get the pollen sacks off asap,
here's a trick, careully put some plastic food wrap on your fingers stretching it out,
use your tumb and every finger except your little one, carefully place it over the male flower,
and pull it off, take the plants out of the room one at a time and do this till all the ball's are gone,
use a fresh piece of wrap for each one and burn or bin them !!!
hope this help's hermies suck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Damn, I was afraid I was right! Thanks for the suggestions. I'll try them out and cross my fingers. Any idea what the cause could be? I heard if you have a light leak during dark period it could cause it. That true?

Feminised seeds tend to go hermie. Read up on it. I recommend starting with regular seeds and sexing them.

I learned the hard way too.

what...iv never had a fem. seed go hermi..
hermis. are normaly produced by stress caused to the plant..
as long as you dont stress the plant in any way you shouldnt go hermi...
note..i said you souldnt go hermi...shit happens..

Dutch Master Reverse Spray?

It looks early on in flower. If you have good air flow and dry air you could get away with a spray or two early on. Some people swear by it. I have never used it myself, but seems like a great idea if it works.

sometimes a plant goes hermie because there is light leakage....make sure there is no light getting into your grow area during the dark/night cycle....but it prob is the feminised seeds that done it.. :^(

I highly doubt that the reason for these hermies is light leak.

quote in {} marks cited to january 2009 high times.

the process that seed companies use to create feminized seeds involves creating a hermaphrodite plant from a female using hormones {such as eliteXelite, or giberillic acid[which is dangerous and quite unpopular], or a silver thiosulfate solution [sts]}, typically on the lower foliage, creating pollen sacks and the strainer then pollenates the plant with itself.

problem is, the seeds tend to carry the hermaphrodite characteristics on to your plants when you buy them from a "reputable source".

next time, just buy regular seeds, pull your males, and clone your best fems. i've learned this the hard way.

btw. fuck hermies, sorry bout your luck, but theres always a next time if they get seeded.

No loss due to male flowers. Onlt if it seeds the plant.

They are right , it is probably a lossing figt, but it is up to the grower.

Alright Guys. Bit of an update. I plucked all the nuts off the plants and binned them, around 50 or so. Hopefully this will stop pollination. Anyone know any signs that the buds have been pollinated? I'm gonna be keeping a close eye on them. Thanks for all the help so far.

the sign will be browning of the hairs... i believe... wherever the hair turns color early, the ??stomata?? at the base of that hair will swell with the production of a visible seed.

what do you think caused the hermafrodite? bad genes? stress? light leak?

SIDENOTE: i just had a plant flower early and go hermie. we had some wack weather that stressed it. and i left it out at dark to much i guess. possible light leak too... i just built a new veg room with black poly curtains with flat white spray paint on the inside. this should correct my problems...
