Help with when to harvest

Hi Guys,

First up just want to say a big thanks to all the contributors to this site. This was my first grow and I couldn't have done it nearly as well with out all the tips and advice I read on here.

So I am in the final weeks of flower and I want some advice on the state of my flowers.

It was a bit of a mystery grow, a seed from a draw long forgotten that germ'd. I have know idea what strain it is so have know clue to how long it should flower for. I kinda lost track of time but Im pretty sure we are close to week 7 in flower.

Up until today based on pistils and smell I was going to give it another week but I used a backwards lens on my camera and was surprised to see some amber trichromes. I took the plant out into the sun (I am growing under a mars hydro reflector 96) to see it better and it kinda looked not so ready? could the led light refracting through the resin look amberish?

Last feed was a week ago, I thought I had two weeks to go.

So for today I decided to flush the plant with about 10litres of ph'd water and put back in my grow room because there was only a couple hrs of light left. I want to know if i should put her in darkness tomorrow or wait for another week? does it look ready? the smell is only really just starting to intensitfy.

also for drying after being in darkness for two days, can I hang it in my grow room to dry with the lights on? its the perfect humidity in there but I have another plant about a month behind.

My gut says get drying asap. I just kind of expected all the leaves to start turning yellow and for more of the pistols to be amber.

It looks like you have a couple weeks to go. As for flushing and putting plants in darkness Ive never done it just forum myths in my opinion. Plants look good much better than my first attempt.

Hi :)

wait ( at least ) one week ! too many white pistils !

I wouldn't dry with lights on, but there are place where they dry in the sun, so if you have no other choice !

Another week at least & keep good eyes on her, feed her as you have flushed. Don't dry in the light as UV breaks down THC... Anyway, looking good and well done... You are nearly at the finishing post... In their last few weeks is when they do most of their bulking out....

This is a critical time for trichome development. Somebody here long ago once told me when they look like they are done give em another couple weeks....great advice. You always want to pick them ASAP because of course you want to enjoy the end product but your patience will be rewarded. There's a lot of complexity that happens in the final few weeks of development that carries into drying & curing but it starts with fully ripened bud. Try to go 10 , 11 , or even 12 weeks of flowering If you can. Light from a grow room will degrade trichomes quickly so you can't really hang dry inside there; you need total darkness

hey guys just updating and after a little advice, picks below.

Im 21 days out from a trip over seas for two weeks, I would really like to get the first week of curing sorted so when I leaving it up to my good mate to pop by every other day to air it out its already starting to stabilise.

Iv also noticed thrips on my leaves, seems the all of the leaves are covered but I cant find many of the trips, the leaves still seem health? should I worry or just let it be, maybe just some strips?

Thanks again for all the help guys, cant wait to get back from two weeks in a country where I will not be touching anything illicit to find 3 week cured bud ready to taste!!

I got the trichrome pics buy putting my 85-200 lens on my slr and tapping my 18-55 lens backwards on the end, trip pod and a remote..

Monterey Garden spray w/spinosad is really effective against thrips. It's totally organic too & will not hurt your buds as long as you've got 10 or more days before harvesting. It will have dissipated by then. The thrips could affect your plants negatively if they destroy too many fan leaves but it really depends upon how bad they have gotten. They can cause damage but only when they've gotten totally out of hand. The spinosad will kill them all off in a matter of dayz. Neem oil works too but it takes longer to work.

Cosign, another 5-6 weeks

Hey guys! My girl is going good but to me (never grown before) she looks ready or if not very soon, my problem is I go overseas for two weeks leaving in 10days, I would be happiest to just leave them going but what am I risking, is two weeks over going to ruin it?

There is 28 cola on my girl about 3 fingers wide each, I really don't want to screw up this late in the game.

Thanks in advance for the help!
