So postponing my current grow to indirectly invest in a future large setup as described. I want to do it with COB led lights. I am wondering, what is the most commercial like setup for something this size? What chips are there for large setups like this? And would I need to diy with some others help? Help point me in the right direction please

cobs are 100% scalable. you can do it with a bunch of small ones, or fewer large ones. you can try @bggrass 's simulators in his sig to run thru the various options

If you don't know how to do the planning, you should get someone who does. 5k ft2 is going to be large upfront capital cost and it would be smart to spend some money to have someone on board who knows what they are doing.

For that number of components, if you were planning to build 'in-house' you would find out the best distributor by contacting the manufacturer. They will put you in contact with a reputable business that will make sure you get the right components at the best price.

Ya I agree I will have someone experienced involved in the design

Make sure it is professional experience, not just some hobbyist that's been growing in their basement for years!

Take a look at what large commercial operators are doing. There are quite a few videos and testimonials online that you can glean lots of information from.

you are going to need at least 5000 cxb3590 36v 3500k COB's, holders reflectors, & passive heat sinks, 1250 mean well HLG-185H-1400B led drivers, and 209 15a branch circuits to connect the lights alone. starting point. peace

about 350,000.00 lmao i bet you could get 310 plc fixtures in there for 220,000.00-225,000.00 based on his discount tiers.maybe cheaper, thats alot of damn lights either way.

to the op,are you planning to flower that whole space or will some be for veg, some working areas, some equipment rooms ect? need to be more specific on layout.you could light up that whole space with gavitas for 80 grand easy and use only 3 lighting controllers ;)

So this will be all grow space. Probably 3/5 flower and 2/5 veg space wise I was thinking to provide more room for flower. The drying room and work storage can be other spaces. 100'x50' for growing both flower and veg.

And don't worry I will and know where to seek advice from. Ive taken a few plant science classes after already having a greenthumb and one was all on cloning/grafting and growing it was so badass. So while there we worked in some green houses but they were not state of the art with new gadgets. They did however grow beautiful plants like crazy, but these were not indoor. But so I know what a greenhouse/grow room would need just my main thing is I need help on lighting and the build of the room costs.

well like i said you could light up that entire space for 80 grand and still have 200k for some awesome hvac and be under 300k or its gunna be around 200k in led panels and 50 to 100k for hvac.if you go the led route and use realiable equipment it will basically be a one time investment.with gavita you will have 15,000 in lamp replacements each year so lots to consider

personally i would section off this space into 1/4 size flower rooms and build one out and fill it while you contnue building out the rest of the space.we would need to know more specifics like your power source and panel sizes.like if your limited to say 300amps you can run 2 flower rooms on a flip schedule and use half the power load.lots to plan here on a operation this size.unless you have a massive amount of power.

so I don't have specs on power yet, but what would cover me to make sure I have enough?
My plan needs to use the best cobs there are that produce the best marijuana. So i will spend a little extra on lighting if needed. But 80 grand for lighting does sounds nice
