Help Me Save My Poor Little "Project" Clone

I brought home a small, weak Chemdawg clone from a dispensary last week because it was the only one left and they cut the price to next-to-nothing to get rid of it. For a few dollars I figured it was worth having a go. It was very thin, with roots just barely peeking out of the plug but the leaves looked strong with good color.

Popped it into a 1gal pot containing FFOF just like I've done with others in the past, and put it out on my deck in filtered sun, just like with the others. This time, I came home from work on the first day and found the leaves drooped and the stem leaning. Oops. Put it in the shade and next morning it looked good as new. Clearly, the lack of roots is causing too great a loss of moisture in the sun and whatever wind there was so I brought it in and placed in on a counter next to a bright window and it has looked strong for several days. Set it out in filtered sun again last evening, and within an hour it had drooped.

Finally, my questions: Is a bright, indirectly lit window good enough until it establishes enough of a root system to sustain itself? I do not own any type of grow light and clearly cannot place it in the sun. I'm thinking of picking up some root stimulant to try and give it a boost. Anything else I should do at this point?

Thank you much for any advice.

I think indirect window would be good as it fills in with roots. Maybe in a few days you can start putting her out for a few hours at a time. If the cutting was being cultivated under weak T5s or CFLs, the sun can be quite strong to get used to for some plants.

Shade the plant. Give the plant just water. A lot of people cut ocean forest with a 1/3 soilless mix until they go into bigger containers.

Thanks for the input - much appreciated. It's looking a lot better now after a few days. I guess the roots have reached out into the soil enough now to support it. It was potted nine days ago. I was home for most of the weekend and had it outside the entire time, just making sure it didn't get hit with hot, direct sun. The weather was a little cooler too, so that helped. It never drooped at all, and it's pushing out some new leaves now so I'm hoping all is well.

I got some clones a week ago and 3 wernt rooted yet and started doing the same thing. They started drooping and leaning over. I used some clear plastic and glass cups and covered the clones and misted them with water a few times a day. The clones loved the moisture and perked up shortly after. After leaving them covered for about 4 days they were rooted and healthy enough to keep uncovered and care for like normal. Just make sure to let them breath like 15 min a day and try to keep it moist inside whatever you use.
