I’ve grown with china bulbs I had two same exact hoods one China one hortilux your crazy if you think the China was even close or kept the same brightness after a week of use!
Crazy man because a hortilux will run you 110 where as a "china" bulb is 35. FYI your racist predilection that anything made in china is lower quality anything then made in America is just a delusional fantasy.

BTW if more expensive was all ways better we would be all growing with LED lighting. SAJLMFAO smoking a joint laughing my fucking ass off.

Whats even more fucking funny is the fact I can buy bulbs cheaper today then when I first started growing in 1988. Name anything else that cost less today then in 1988!

I just got an IPower 400watt hps/mh and 8" fan/filter from Amazon last month. It was either this or Vivosun, but I think IPower had better reviews. I wonder if they are made and distributed by the same people, they look very similar.

I use the ipower filter plus fan also replaced two of the fans after 3+ years I normally switch or clean out filters after each run

600 watt Vivosun HPS. $16.95 and free shipping. I've been using Vivosun gear for a few years. Only thing that went out was the inline fan. But even that didn't go out. It just started making noise after two years of 24/7 running so I bought another one. I could care less where it came from. The whole "Made in America" is a joke. Most of that stuff is just assembled in America. Most of the parts come from China, Taiwan, Mexico, etc...

I remember years ago I worked at Hoody's Peanuts. One of their products was peanut butter. Due to laws in the US they couldn't buy South American peanuts. Instead they bought a peanut paste from Canada made from South American peanuts. Made in America is mostly a slogan and marketing gimmick.

Hi, why do some brand new and unused HPS light has that darkness in the ends of the center tube like they look used.(same whey as they end up looking after been done one 4.5 month round )... when the light supposed to be new and unused from store...store claimed that the light been tested in factory before sent to store for sale...is this happening or bullshit...

Just watched a video where a guy explained that the bulbs center tube should always be pure white when the light is new and unused...
All HPS and MH bulbs are factory tested for one hour. They check to make sure the vacuum seal is working and that no oils from anybody's skin was left on the glass or parts that would shorten the bulbs life.

Any bulb you pull out that wasn't tested is probably a very cheap, 10 dollar knockoff brand where they don't give a shit if it's fucked up, they'll just send you another one.

Are $10 bulbs just "cheap knockoffs" or are they standard bulbs that meet certain specifications, and all the high $$$ priced bulbs are "expensive knockoffs"?

When the bulb is cheap it requires no much of standards to be met...every part and manufacturing is done cheapest possible way..so saving few bucks in the important part of the op..is not really my cup of tea..but I am no bulb expert neither so yep paying a bit more feels assuring...but newer really paid more than 25-45 a piece...haven't been in the search for the cheapest quality which might pull its weight or not..

I use Yield Labs bulbs. They're good, solid bulbs for very reasonable prices.

The 600 watt mh bulb runs about 35 dollars. The 600 watt hps bulb runs about 40.

I've always had great results from them.

Who said anything about China in the first place. Better yet, who cares!

130.00 bucks for something that only gives you (at best) 10% more PAR.... Now look at cost of 1 of several brands, at less then 27.00 per bulb.. (buy in bulk for less! Get a business lic.)

You can NOT tell me that spending over $100.00 more per bulb. Gets you any better cost effectiveness.

I gotta tell you with my OWN light meter. I only got 7% better PAR.
I have run Green Houses and dealt with lighting issues, Possibly before you were born.
I have NEVER gotten a bum bulb from my supplier. They tell me if I'm not happy with any they send. Send it back for a new one!

EYE Hort has the same damn bulb warranty as mine do, and are completely effective!

AND....I don't have to Bull Shit about the bulb delivering 4-5 extra zips a run!

THAT SIR, IS BULL SHIT of the first order!

Don't even bring up EYE's claim of being able to run 1 extra run! This is not true by my and others test's. They degrade at the same if not more of a rate then my COMMERCIAL bulb's!

My straight HPS hoods deliver 20% more light energy to my plants then yours do too.... To bad you can't get them any more.. Jupiter 6's.....

Bottom line:
Having done the math and the testing myself. In green houses and my op's... I get more for my dollar.

You didn't list the brand of the "china" bulb either..... FAH.

These are commercial green house operations bulbs.. They ARE held to high standards....I have never had a bad one.

I have had cheap ballast knock offs from China that cooked bulbs in days.
I got a replacement for each and sold them on Ebay...

The bulk of quality ballasts are assembled in China.
The Chinese then change the shell color and call them something else. They use inferior parts, not in the original makers design spec's.

I have an old Chinese ballast that's over 8 years old and runs like a top! 1K and it has lost no PAR out-put.....
I wish I had bought a case of those!

Calling out "Chinese" does not make something junk...Till it fails and you learn.

How the fuck do you test each and every bulb off a line?

How about you call a bulb maker and ask that question..

NOT POSSIBLE by production rates! They test a % of the amount made at random times....Per lot!

The line I saw at GE looked very much like a beer assembly line. From the time the line starts, it takes about an hour and 5 minutes for the first bulb to come off the line.

After that, they come off the line at a rate of two per second.

There's a long stretch of the line the has a hot rail its entire length. The channel the bulbs ride in are grounded. They roll slowly along that channel lit up much like beer bottles do to be filled.

The channel then becomes unpowered and the bulbs go through a 2 minute cool down, are inspected and then packaged.

One line can produce around 50,000 bulbs per shift. The factory I visited had 12 lines and ran 3 shifts 6 days per week.

The brand I used was ultra sun and I’m not even sure they are china bulbs.. it was 20 dollars when I first bought at shop second time I went to get it went up to 40 I can get the eye hortilux for 62 dollars so it was worth the extra 12 dollars imo.. and I’m not a only USA type of person I will try anything China makes a lot of things we use daily I don’t care what or where it was from.. not sure why I even said China bulb! Anyway my eye hortilux I just changed was bought in 9/16 so saying they don’t last longer than the junk Chinese still not sure I just know I yeilded about 18 zips off the 3 year old light.. if it was new I would get 34. Simple test I used was putting a hortilux on one side and ultra sun on the other side! It was clearly brighter on one side! Now do I think the brighter bulb lasted longer yes I do... day one you can notice a difference so day 50 there is clearly a difference... but hey it’s my opinion not trying to get into it with dr who! I rather learn something from you! So how about you post some pics of your rooms veg and flower! And also point me in the right direction for cheap good bulbs! I’m all about saving money not buying the most exspensive thing just because I like quality that’s why I grow my own bud.. it’s top shelf compared To what’s around here and I can guarantee it was never sprayed with anything and it’s bug free! After growing my own and tasting it! It’s
Scary not knowing what these ppl are using on there Plants! Just to keep the money coming! I chopped 6 plants at week 4 because I seen one herm... now I sit here with no bud to smoke but only 2 Weeks away from greatness... about to grab some glue to hold me off!

The boxes of my IPower bulbs say "Designed and Tested by IPOWER California" and then "Made in China". The bulbs came sealed and appeared brand new never used. They probably have them made then test a few bulbs out of the shipments.

The Vivosun's I use say "Designed by Vivosun in California" And Made in PRC. They are probably the same light manufactured at the same factory.
