i would consider that price very very steep

i would look for a tent setup, like a secret jardin

my kids won't mess with that cabinet, it is lockable and we have similar crap in the playroom, but NOT that cabinet. I CANT FIND IT ANYWHERE TO BUY! :( my kids are tent obsessed, so i can't have a tent system
also about the price.. I can't find a pre built cheaper, and the cost of purchasing everything seperate plus shipping is probably gonna get me kind of close.

BTW have you ever googled secret jardin? I found the website, if you want to buy from them just enter contact infomation to be contacted?? lol I
I was hoping someone has dealt with homegrown hydroponics and could tell me before they get my money

yeah their site is all kinds of crazy, i just ordered it from a retailer instead of directly from them.

sorry i cant be of any help as far as homegrown hydroponics. i still think you can get a grow box like that and then get the rest of the shit yourself and either spend less, or get better equipment for your money, although i understand your decision.

i was leaning towards buying a pre built secret jardin setup and was just about to when i decided to search around and try to build the same setup for a similar price

ended up with a much much better light as well as a better inline fan.

good luck man. nice avatar

Holy crap they are crazy as hell.I actually was just gonna buy a few of these cabinets at homedepot as they are on sale for $68 each so with light and every thing you can build this same unit for under $300 in about an hour..And they want $300 on sale for that dryer which is in the diy posts on here for like $45

I actually did what you said, I bought THE SAME FUKIN cabinet for 64 at Lowes, and am building it myself, but 230 for the light and cool tube, a scrubber, a kit, fans, nutes, and a few other things I will only save... A FUCK LOAD OF money!

If you could make a how-to journal on making one of those, it would greatly help us save $1000

I bought the Economy for my Mom's bday. She loves it...
I find it interesting that all of this guy's posts love home-grownhydroponics yet rip on all of their competitors. Check out his post history if you don't believe me.

Also Homegrown Hydroponics is a COMPLETE SCAM. I ordered a PC grow box a month ago and he never shipped, but instead stole my money. I have emails and can prove this if you guys would like.

Check out this separate incident on Rip off Reports if you aren't convinced.

The link you posted refers to a hydropoponics shop in Canada and has no relationship with the maker of the products you guys are talking about..

I've built three different cabinets myself, and I'd guess the cost was around $1200 per cabinet. It takes quite a bit of stuff: lumber, oak panels, drill, saw, hole saw kit, wood glue, clamps, nails, screws, good centrifugal fan, carbon filter, air-cooled reflector, 600w digital ballast and good bulb, darkroom louvers, ducting and duct clamps, white paint, brushes, paint thinner, casters, handles, 6" wall flange, screen, staple gun, sandpaper, wood stain, staples, caulk, caulk gun, and so on. Much of it is little stuff, but five bucks here, ten bucks there, and it definitely does add up. To be fair, I bought the highest quality equipment available on the market -- because after all the *other* costs, and after all the work, why cheap out? Not to mention, the blood and sweat and time was worth something.

So, I don't think their prices are *that* unreasonable. I think my cabinets are waaaay better, but they did cost more, even though I built them myself. I also bought a cabinet from Lowe's and modified it to create a 400w flowering cabinet out of it. That was cheaper, but it's also nowhere *near* as light-tight as the ones I built myself with that being one of the specific goals of my design.

Yep - My Grand daddy used to say "any job worth doing is worth doing right."

I have done all my grow room design and construction myself except for the 2 walls I had to build and the high security door & locks. There is a pride that comes with that and I started by not being in a hurry and buying some used equipment. Very gratifying indeed. Almost all my design and construction came from spending weeks of solid reading here on RIU. A smart man learns from his mistakes. A wise man learns from others mistakes.
