Guy With Gun

So if he was armed, wearing an "I love Obama" t-shirt and standing in front of a polling center with a buddy or two trying his best to look menacing, no one on the left would be questioning his motives? Is that about right?

Doesn't matter how he maintained! It is against the law to poll (with or without a gun, and with or without a t-shirt endorsing a candidate) within 100 yards of a polling place. He should have been arrested.

Why is it that the law is "to the letter" with some people and only the "spirit of the law" applies with others here.

"One law for the Ruler, One law for the Ruled". . .. WE CAN'T LIVE LIKE THAT!

Guess I'm speaking too soon. I didn't watch the video first. That was stupid!

If he had his arm registered and notified the public officials that he was going to be bearing arms, he had every right! Amendment 2 is second to 1 with our rights as AMERICAN citizens. Keep in mind, that is American citizens (those that can produce a certifiable, state approved, federally approved document) showing that one is a LEGAL (not Kenyan, Indonesian, Mexican or otherwise) citizen of the United States.

"What is the history of people bringing guns to presidential appearances?"

Every single one I am aware of. Secret service, police... all of these people have guns... and they are viewed as defensive tools.

Give one to the only people constitutionally guaranteed the right to have one and everyone is nervous.

I love this guy.

I have a question...

What if that sidearm, and sign, were considered a "threat" to a public official? Because we all know your right to free speech/expression does not extend to such...

That takes balls he could have been shot "defensively" because nobody is truly considered innocent until proven guilty if they carry a weapon and around the president you are close to dead. Before you even see a security officer there are sure to be a few sights trained on you by some very nervous very high strung dudes.

I had a concealed carry permit years ago and even if get stopped for a minor traffic ticket that is the very first question I am asked. "We see on our computer you have a permit are you carrying now" It's not until after that's cleared up they even will say why they pulled me over to begin with.

That is a safety issue for police... I don't take issue with establishing awareness.

The first part of your post... it wouldn't be that way if everyone carried one. Like the guy said... if you do not exercise your rights, they will go away. There is a reason the founding fathers made that right second only to free speech. They WANTED the government afraid of its people... not the other way around. Only allowing authority to be armed is tyranny. Thank God for New Hampshire. Live free or die.

I'm all for going back to what this country was supposed to be, I admitted I've concealed carried so clearly I'm not anti gun, but yea expecting to be able to carry in front of the president or that the whole public should be able to in front of him because of the rights our founding fathers gave us is I think asking just way too much. If that were allowed I don't think we'd see another president ever survive full term again and poor obama would be dead in a heartbeat every nutjob out there is gunning for him already and everyone knows it.

That this man took the gun but didn't want to kill obama that's the real suprising thing to this story.

Which other rights do you endorse relinquishing?

Many states do allow 'open carry'. True. And if you want to carry it to the local market or gas station when out and about with your family, have at it. < That's a legitimate defensive posture.

But, 'open carry' is just that. It's out in the open where everyone can see it, even the young thug from down the street who would just cream in his jeans to take your $2ooo hot-rodded 1911 to his next meetin' with the boyeez. So he just waits till you're puttin the groceries into your pickup bed and pops you in the back of the head with his $50 Jennings Nine, then reaches down and unholsters your 'defensive' weapon that just got you killed.

I am an advocate of concealed carry. The permit holder has their background checked by the local sheriff's dept., the weapon is documented, and the holder must adhere to all regulations & forbidden zones (schools, bars, courthouses, private businesses that have signage forbidding it,etc.). And no, you can't start a fight and then shoot the other guy because your weak ass was gettin kicked, that's murder.

Alot of states have CCW permits now. If you want to carry, get one. It keeps the criminals wondering; Who's carrying? Who ain't.

As for the guy in the video...
He probably did more harm than good for the rights that his dumb-ass was trying to protect.
Open carry---cool.
Open carry with the sign at a political gathering---his friends should have had an 'intervention'.

As for me though, if I was a Secret Service sharpshooter, I wouldn't pay him much mind. I'd be lookin for the weird white guy carrying a Scooby Doo lunchbox.

There's my bunnyrabbit>o----------------------------------------------------------------------X

It is "allowed".

There is no crime against it... he was not arrested to my knowledge, or detained. It IS his right...

As for doing more harm than good... how do you figure?

white guy sccoby doo lunchbox that's too funny.
Any moron can get a concealed carry permit it means you seem ok legally but it doesn't mean you have the ability to even defend your weapon from being snatched right off your waist and used to kill the president against your will. Security there has that training. I have had that training but to get a concealed permit here all I needed was a couple hour class on incredibly dumb stuff like which way to point the gun and where the bullets go in. I know he wasnt carrying concealed anyway so he may not have even had the super bullet directional class and not being concealed just makes it a beacon to get snatched.

I didn't really read the whole story maybe I missed something but I hope you don't really want to make our country that much less secure by encouraging we all have this right which sure as shit will be taken away now that this is news so you bet he just accomplished the opposite of his goal which I would have originally supported. That man just took some of your rights you did have away, trust me it's already done there is no other alternative in the interest of this country and you know that I'm right even if you don't like it.

...and you will give up your right and your ability to defend yourself willingly?

That"man" has balls. He is not out to hurt anyone, he is out to remind people that if we don't protect our rights we will
lose them. He did not take away any of my rights, he used his right to remind people where we are and where we are heading.

lmao What a dumb statement. Criminals avoid people with guns not the other way around. When they want guns they buy them from the local street gun dealer. When they want to rob someone they look for defenseless people, not people who carry.

Dumb or not, that's exactly what happened 40 miles north of me 3 years ago. He was putting the groceries in the car with his wife. He was shot with an arm load of groceries by a young thug who later told cops "YOU CAN'T GET A NICE PIECE LIKE THAT ON THE STREET".
