Unfortunately, there are always those types of days that make even the best activities seem like chores. Those days come when I have to fight with my humidity/venting/light sealing. But fortunately seldom do they happen and growing is 99% of the time a hobby once again. :D

Those roots are probably swimming now in the res. :D

..here it is my friends, I wasnt happy mixing nutes everyday, spending an hour in the bathroom mixing nutes, making sure the ph tester is working right, then possibly having to spend more money on better meters, drops that do this, drops that do that, to much ph up, then I have to dump it out, and start over again, Then I read where people are dumping huge amounts of water on thier grow rooms from broken pumps or clogged drains with roots, , then carrying gallons of water to the plants, dumping gallons, then sucking up the old nutes and making 6 trips back to the sink or bathtub,
I would never knock the hydro guys, your stuff is rockin, I even used to grow hydro 25 years ago, but it was in the garage, where spilling water was fine, but I cant spill 5 gallons or more on my bedroom carpet, ,its just not going to fly, then all of a sudden I am not happy,, NOT HAPPY!!!! ,,
something had to change,,

And, I am sitting on so much dried and cured flower and lots of butter for edibles, that I wonder,, why am I growing unless it is for fun,,
So,, here is what changed today

my buddy says, to me that he has kept the other 2 clones alive, but they are now transplanted into soil 1 gallon containers, then he has the idea to try and transplant the hempy bucket clones back to soil, LIGHT BULB MOMENT!!,, so this afternoon 2 more clones came home to live here,, Sour Diesel and Bruce Banner,, then my hempy clones ( J1 and Gorilla Glue 4 got transplanted into 1 gallon soil containers also, So now I have 4 strains in the grow box, the CFL's are outta there, the big light is on, 36 inches up,
One thing that came from all my ph testing is my water comes out of my faucet at the perfect ph for soil grow,, HOOT ,,

and here we go,, 2 are in Fox Farms happy frog, and 2 are in fox farms ocean forest , after they grow up some, i will transplant and UP pot into thier final pots and flip them into flower, not going to scrog , not going to mainline, just going to grow some nice tops and HAVE FUN ,, Dammit,, hahaha,,
really though 4 top of the line strains, should fill the box for the most part, just got to decide on the final pot size, got to work around my dumb fresh air intake hose,, need to replace that on the next
All 4 will end up in fox farm ocean forest and if it works right, just water till the end,
Ill keep the scrog screen frame in place, may use it to tie tops to just for alignment as it goes alone

@Gregor Eisenhorn can you believe it after 11 days only 1 root was found to be all the way down in the res, most of the roots were in a 4 inch ball near the base of the plant, they were not going to take off anytime soon ,

Aww damn that's a shame, I was thinking that all the roots went down. Oh well, now we know more about the hempy method. And like you said, there is no point in doing something if it doesn't bring any joy (all that walking around with the water, spilling etc.)

But damn, four clones NICE, it's going to be a jungle in there. And back to the good old soil I see, and I'll have to start making my Scrog net soon, those PVC pipes look like a swell idea.

All four plants survived the night, in fact the J1 looks better than it has in a week, now I need to find 4 potting containers that will fit down in the bottom of the box, but allow Up potting before flower,, I like shopping

That is the same reason why I made the switch to soil too specially organic so I don't have to pH and do all the mad scientist stuff to just feed your plants it gets old quick I love don't it in a dwc and in coco this summer it got old quick and I didn't really enjoy it. The soil is much more forgiving you just water or add teas and you don't gotta pH them the soil does that it itself. A lot easier growing and you get to enjoy it instead of it being a none fun chore. I'll start up a thread tomorrow on my scrog cab grow.

True, you can check the pH if you are curious or if you're using some kind of super soil/brand you don't know, and I don't even pH the water. It has never affected the Ph of my soil so I'm cool with that. Although I would like to sometimes do something more with my grow, waiting and observing can be a boring thing to do sometimes, and I like to have every excuse as to go into my grow room.

Great News, the color is slowly returning to the J1 already, its so good to see , I think all 4 will make it, i wouldnt be surprised if the Gorilla glue burns a little bit in this hot soil, ,but It will survive, I am watching a GG4 at a buddies house survive the same treatment, so i have a good vibe about it,
So the fun right now is finding 4 containers that will fit in the floor space I have, so I can Up pot them after some veg time and that will be thier flower containers, but my four 3 gallon fabric grow bags wont fit across there, they would without the intake hose and the heater, but those 2 things have to stay for this grow, so i am on the hunt for some containers, I have a couple of weeks to figure it out
pics of the problem,, lol

What about 2 gallon fab pots or are those to small? I'm going to have to use two 2 gallon pots in mike the 2 3 gallons fit in it but my scrog is to small for two sonic only running one 3 gallon this time I might see if 2 2gallons fit under the scrog next cycle.

Heheh, can't say I blame ya one bit... Stick with what ya know, and keep it simple...
I've never even grown in dirt before (well, except for my day job) sure was irritated hauling buckets around when my water was all jacked up the other week...

That's just it, I have a pretty high level of stealth and I get visitors who don't know, and soil is quiet, like this Thanksgiving I will have a house full of people staying several days, I can't be mixing nutes while people are waiting for the bathroom, lol Ican't be hauling twenty gallons across the carpet or have a failure in plumbing in my bedroom, there are many driving factors, I can do hydro I but I can't do what inherently comes along with hydro because of where Igrow, and this experiment has made that evident

I am looking into the two gallon, I am keeping them pretty short, at least I hope to, lol some of us indoor growers have tree fever,

I topped the 2 bigger plants tonight, trying to slow them down while the 2 little ones try and catch up some, the Bruce Banner was thirsty when I opened the door,, and now in just a few days I have seen what an over watered plant looks like and what an under IMG_8745.JPG IMG_8746.JPG IMG_8747.JPG IMG_8748.JPG watered plant looks like, So after I topped the 2 big plants, I watered all four, and while I was watering, i had 2 much over flow from the BB and I had to run get a small towel,, no biggy, but when I picked up the plant to wipe around it, there are ROOTS coming out of that 1 gallon container you put them in, they have only be in there a few days,,

So I guess I have to move building the splash tray and up potting to the 3 gallon fabric pots tommorow, at least the 2 bigger ones, I think it will work, here is hoping

This grow is now another classic example of what not to do, here I am working on my box is the middle of another grow,, how come I cant seem to stop doing that?? I worked on 3 light leaks this morning I am sure 2 of them are fixed, we shall see about the 3rd tonight, the last light leak will get fixed when the carbon filter gets hung up and light stops going thru the center of the fan,
I took the heater out after running the "Rob Test" yes I named it after the guy shows idea it was and it worked, the lights keep the box warm enough on thier own, its 71 down in the bottom of the grow cab and 85 up in the top,, constant during lights on, and as the plants get taller they will move into warmer air, and then when the air is too warm,, I can just speed the exhaust fan up enough to make the temp what ever it needs to be by moving the cooler air up and thru quicker
with the heater out all four of the 3 gallon fabric grow bags fit in the bottom with the current fresh air intake , I now need to build a small frame around the inside edge so I can line it with plastic to form an overflow pan, I have 4 bags on hand as you can see in the pics and I have about 1.5 bags of Fox Farms Ocean Forrest,, should be just enough,
