Since where on the subject and I choose the room how do you keep it air conditioned without opening a window bc area isn't great. Im reading that these portable ac units still need to be vented outside? is that correct?

Portable AC need to drain somewhere, at least they used to. But if you have a sump pump it cold drain there.

I run about 250W of LED in a 4x4 tent. The tent stays 3-5degrees above the outer room.

Can't they just drain into a bucket then?? How many oz's u pull in a 4x4 tent ??

Yes, they do need to be vented. The heat from the condenser coil needs to be exhausted.

When looking at an indoor, portable unit (not a window unit) some only have 1 hose, an exhaust. Stay away from them. They use indoor air to cool the coil, then it gets pumped out the exhaust.

A good unit will have 2 lines, one for intake air (for the condenser), the other for exhaust.

Many non-window units do not need a drain. They somehow use the exhaust to carry the moisture outside. They might have a drain, but chances are (at least where I am) you'll never need to open it.

If it does, yes.. a bucket is fine.

I used to have a portable one and it still had a small drain/drip hose that was supposed to go into a window or something.

I yield about 5-6 oz of dried, well maincured bud with the main stems removed per cycle. But my yields are nothing to be proud of.

Basement regulates temperature better and stays cool naturally. My basement is the coolest place in the house during summer, so much that I can run 4000w without even needing an A/C. It's also where my gas furnace is, so free co2. It's the last place an unsuspecting visitor to your house will probably wander into.

I don't think there are any advantages to using a bedroom if you have a decent basement, but that's just me.
Dude your post vindicated me from 7 yrs back when FDD2blk was head moderator & threatened to ban me over telling growers i use the exhaust from an 90% efficient hot water heater in my grow op .

Said my post was borderline deadly & i was giving out the worst advice ever .

Good to see somebody else understands modern furnaces are no different than gas powered c02 generators .

I think this basement is clean.. Only problem I want to put the tent into the corner of the basement so I would have to run a extension cord probally 20 feet. Is it okay to have a extension cord permantely ????
No extension cords in a grow op ever , ever , ever !

Spend $20 on a new 20amp breaker at Home Depot & get enough wire to make the run, write down the name of your breaker box & tell the home depot worker you need a 20 amp breaker , xxx footage of wire & a 20 amp GFCI along with an outlet box .

Installing a new line is easy as pie & as long as you can wire up a car stereo or hook up a pair of speakers you do not need an electrician .

Install your outlet in the ceiling , hook wire up to the gfci according to the instructions on the box , run the wire to breaker box & cut it & foot too long .

Take the panel off your breaker box which will expose internal components , after that its just matching up wires of the same color by looking at whats there now , black wire goes to the new 20 amp breaker , white wire goes inside the breaker box as well as bare wire , ive done so many i dont even turn the power off anymore but i reccomend you remove the meter from the outside of the house before working inside the panel so no electricity will be in the panel , i also recomend you put 1 hand in your pocket while working in the panel so you dont ground out accidently .

If you do a search of all threads i started you'll find a tutorial with detailed instructions & many pictures showing every step of installing a new 20 amp line , its super easy & is gonna cost about the same as an extra heavy duty extension cord .

If your doing only 2 plants and want a 5x5 tent with a 600.. i would do a smaller tent. Your losing spectrum with it getting defused on the bounce.
If the areas bad and a worry on your mind... then i would do the basement. You can scrub the air before it goes anywhere.

Weight:
an advance grower will average 1 to 1 1/2 grams pr watt. Most average 1/2 to 3/4 pr watt. This is why we train our girls to get the max out. If you do the math with yours you will see. Your plant is already set for the max... its our jobs to get it plan and simple. Look at your grow you stated. 250w you got 5.75oz thats 43.4 grams pr watt your approx max would have been 9. oz for that 250 watt.
I have been growing since 14 and i am 52. This is law. Now a days some killer genetic strains have come on the market but you can only get what the light puts out. Thats why we train them ( i prefer mainlining now a days, its all buds and no tree) to get that max. We dial in our nuts/water/air/temp/co2 and everything else. The sky is not the limit for a plant i am sad to say.lol
Shit look at your co2.. if you are not running 600 + then its doing you no good. the leaves pours are NOT opening up enough to take it in so its wasted. It has to be ABOVE the crop because it is much heavier. These are just things to get dialed in.
You can get two seeds of the same strain. One might have been harvested and the other from a hermi. You are going to get two different weights. Even if they are grown side by side under the same light.
But if i was worried about my surrounding i would do the basement. If i had some cash or something to barter i would get an electrian in there to at least take a look at what you have. You are not running a ton of power from 1 600w.

Hope this helps
Peace out

Keeping in mind a spark could be a killer... i would ask an electrician about that. lol
Here is an example of a friend of mine's basment grow for 6 plants with a 400w MH/HPS
3x3 tent for 6 plants (Mainlining. so kept at about 2 1/2 - 3 ft tall all big buds 16-32 bud sites)
Veg approx 2-3 months.. could be much earlier if he only wanted 8 kolas or less.
400 w cooled hood with a line from it going out.. One corner is the entrance and he uses Velcro to keep it closed in 5 different places.
Next to the door is a 12x12 fan hung on a bungee cord with a slot for intake. He leaves certain Velcro opening for the air to escape and a fan to help suck out hot air when needed. along with one side of the top left open for hot air to escape..

He regulates the basement with heat in the winter with ahumidifier almost never needs the ac in the summer. Heat rises and cold sinks LOL and with leaving certain parts of the tent open (never low areas for the light to bounce back in) he keeps it always perfect temps without a problem. He is running 2 outlets in the winter and two in the summer. Sometimes a third in the summer to draw more heat from the tent... but not a lot at all. Your always get fresh air circulation and with a air scubber next to the door if needed.. your golden
I have recommended this to other people who have been as happy as a stoner in a marijuana field at harvest time.

Hope this helps
Peace out

I've seen a house with 4 bedroom become 3 in the matter of hours.. basically just take door panels off add a support with 2x4s, insulation the whole 9 yards but the trick is removing the door from all sights after a quick repaint of entire hallway!touch ups can be noticed we don't want that remember.. but how do I get in you wonder.. well I went into a walk in attic and lifted apiece of insulation and lifted the square cut out with a tiny little something in the area to keep as a marker maybe a bent nail or something along those lines...inside room just add your choice of way up or down in the room like ladder or a knotted rope or a old dresser to stand on it..May seem like a pain in ass to get in and out of but either safety first 2nd misdirection you should avoid wearing any shiny silver bracelets.. having exit plan deterrent and all that possible also if anyone needs questions or ideas hit me up...I'm a genius when it comes to planning misdirection, strategy, drawing up objectives...always like to helped:) also hard lined camera to view from room are wise hidden cam in hallway and or front back doors etc gives you time to cut power and make your great escapes or vice versa to have cams facing certain areas in room for monitor from elsewhere before climbing in..
