Growing in bedroom on main floor vs basement pros/cons

Basement regulates temperature better and stays cool naturally. My basement is the coolest place in the house during summer, so much that I can run 4000w without even needing an A/C. It's also where my gas furnace is, so free co2. It's the last place an unsuspecting visitor to your house will probably wander into.

I don't think there are any advantages to using a bedroom if you have a decent basement, but that's just me.

I'd agree on basement with one caveat. Generally speaking, there are much greater odds that you need a repairman to fix something in the basement vs a bedroom.

Exactly.. If you build a secret room with a bunch of pipes and wires going above it, someone is no doubt going to need to trace those pipes/wires, will definitely wonder where they went and how they can get there.

Try to build away from pipes and wires so that they never think to follow anything through your grow area walls.

Another issue with basements is the high humidity and higher chances of mold.

Generally basements have water heaters, heat pumps, etc.

Your basement is the best if your grow has some size to it. You need to watch for the humidity problems that some times come with the basement grows. But once again if you have a pretty good size then you have the equipment to run it.
If your in a legal state and running your limit then section off one of the rooms which will have the best ventilation and the basics for you, then i would go there. I can regulate it better and with winter here the ac could not even be needed.

I had that issue.......sewer backed up (I rent) and the access to the sewer line to the street (to run the snake) was in my veg room. This is when my landlord found out I grow in my townhouse.

Another thing to think about using a bedroom is the inevitable spill. Not a good thing on carpet or hardwood floors.

I think this basement is clean.. Only problem I want to put the tent into the corner of the basement so I would have to run a extension cord probally 20 feet. Is it okay to have a extension cord permantely ????

Humidity will generally build up faster in basement so you are more likely to have to think about control.

All the above is excellent advice- the bigger the grow, the stronger the argument in favor of the basement.

I do everything in the basement- except AC. For that I run a 2 Ton chiller on the main floor and use the cold water in the basement. This leaves the hot exhaust air upstairs where it can be vented out the window all summer- and heat the house all winter. In this way your cooling system will pay for itself in reduced heating bills while saving you money on cooling costs.

Do you have to vent outside?? Cant you just put pull air from the floor of the basement and then through the tent/light then out the tent into a carbon scrubber?

And I want to do run 2 plants DWC in a 5x5 tent with a 600hps or should I spent the extra money on LED lights??? Scrogging the 2 plants too, what can I pull per harvest???? I had a very small area before with 1 plant 2'x15inches using a 250 hps I was getting 5.75 oz's every 3 months or less.

Wanna do a 5x5 tent. Yeah if the basement isn't below like 65 degrees and the humidity doesn't stay below 45 percent I might go to the room. The room I will have to put AC in the summer, then the winter I will just keep the house at like 60 degress and just carry a electric heater around with me.

LED lighting has has come very far in even the last 3 to 4 years the technology has been rapidly developing and also the price points have been going down, that being said I can tell you from first-hand experience I bought a LED probably two & half months ago that was equivalent to a 600 HPS.... We did three auto flowers which word called Vast&fast and we are in the last 2 to 3 weeks of flower and I am just blown away with how powerful the spectrum of the LED is penetrating those buds and actually making them pretty fat.... The formation is very nice and tight tons of resin and talk about the electricity it is night and day probably cost $13-$17 a month tops to run two of those lights.... So all that being said I would highly suggest investing in LED technology especially if you live in a region that has a warmer climate... I got mine off of Amazon the company of LED is called platinum LED and like I said it was equivalent to a 600 HPS... It's a little pricey $540 but the last three months I cannot tell you how blown away my expectations have been.... Hope this helps...

Okay say u have a room that's 65 degrees and the hps with a cool tube makes the grow room 78 degrees how much cooler do the LED make the room. Also does there need to be a temp variance with lights on vs lights off?? I heard maybe like 10 degrees.....

Without a nice heavy duty fan ( i use a Lasko brand, it's really meant for rapidly drying wet carpet or a freshly painted wall, but man let me tell you do they move some air around and it's the only fan you will ever need....
