Also topping doesn't increase your GPW, it only increases your yield per plant. Within a limited square foot space you can only efficiently fit so many tops. He already has 5 plants in that space, I think that is more than enough

Topping increases nodes that make more Pistils and buds to form. It is the shit!. I know he just put them in flower, but the plant has SO MUCH TIME to flower out... That was my thought if you wanna put this technique to the test for your later grows to increase the yield you get from each plant. It is just one plant and it won't hurt you at all.

Have you considered topping during or before the stretch phase going into flower? I want you to try and top a single plant for me and see how it works for you. If you don't want to I understand, but it is just one plant. Your call. I'm thinking it will double or triple, maybe more, the yield of that female. Try to top every/all tops that could make the "V" or "Y" effect, even the small bud sites on the lower areas if possible. Hope this sounds like a fun experiment. I'll keep checking this thread and I've also bookmarked it.

Can I ask you a question? Why did you copy and paste the same message to.me as you did in this thread about.topping? ... Just curious

I wouldn't top after you go to 12/12 it could stunt the growth! Kind of ballzy to ask someone else to experiment with their grow!!

I want to see people increase the yields on one of their plants and do a comparison coming harvest. It makes your journal interesting for me and others. Topping is a fascinating technique that makes more nodes for more pistols to form. Later on, that area will be covered in Buds.

It doesn't stunt growth enough to affect the Yield in the end when your harvesting. There is so much time for the plant to flower out because of Good lighting and Nutrients. It won't even hurt you in any way. I know you just started to flower, but it is up to you.
This is something everyone should try and I never see someone try to increase their yields with any techniques.

What do you mean no one tries to up their yields with any techniques?
He's got his plants in hydro
He's using a cool-tube that brings his lights inches from the canopy
those are both yield improving techniques

The topping to increase yield works because it allows the plant to cover a larger canopy space
If your canopy is already full it won't help
Imagine a SOG packed with untopped single cola plants. That is a full canopy.
If you were to top all those plants right before flower your not going to increase yield because the canopy is already full.
If you have your plants too far spaced and their is unused light then yes it will increase yield, but it doesnt work in every situation

Take a look at my garden. If I were to top those main shoots I would be hurting my yield because my canopy is already too full

Hyrdo is common and almost everyone is doing the Same Exact Techs but a little modified in their own way.

I'm not telling him to top every single plant.... ZZZZzzzzZZZ
Just one plant is enough to prove something this small will affect yield and how you use your space.
I just want this dude to make things interesting for himself and others on his journal and see the outcome in the end. If harvest gave you more or made a difference to change the way you use your setup. I already said you can try this if you want and If you had good lighting and Nutrients, the Buds in the end, will turn up to be exactly the same. So much time for the plant to flower, gain energy from light, and use up nutrients that it won't hurt you in any way.

If you haven't tried it yet, then it is your choice on trying new things to add to your yield in the end. None of this info is bad in any way.

Topping your plants can stunt the growth and reduce your yield, especially with indicas. Been their and done that!!!!! Topping should be done at least a couple of weeks before you go to 12/12.

Do I have to tell you why again? Your lights are shit to reduce yield and you are not giving enough nutrients to support those new tops.
You can top during any time before new sets of leaves are not growing. That means the plant has focused 100% on making flowers/buds.

Deza, You can do whatever you want to them, those babies are your plants. Weed is the shit and I don't plan on ruining any.. o_O Some of you think I am a dumb ass. My techniques I said before are for you, If you want to decide and try an experiment on just ONE plant. Then later during harvest you can compare your plant to the others. What I said doesn't hurt any one or thing. Maybe all of crackbaby's plants came out crap because he did not leave one plant alone and was so stoned to tell himself topping is useless.

If Deza were to top one of his plant's he wouldnt be able to tell if it improved yield or not because he is growing all different strains. If he tops his white widow and it yields more than his Berry Bomb, that may or may not be because the white widow was a stronger yielder to begin with.
I however have many plants of the same strain each already having been topped for 4 colas, I just switched to 12/12 3 days ago. Today I removed 2 tops as you instructed and I will have a good comparison with the untopped colas to make for a comparrison.

If your doing it to prove me wrong, I hope you fail =P. But make sure you give that plant a bit extra nutes to support the extra tops you just created. By next week new growth will stop and buds will start to take over. I'll watch your journal since you like to take care of you plants a bit more than the others. Imagine topping every top on a plant? Not just before flower but during veg, then the flower stretch, after that extra buds appear. I want every grower to increase there yields because most are boring grows with little technique in the description and images. This should make things very interesting.

I'll check out your grow to see what happened to the tops you topped.

Awesome looking sativa and the rest are stellar too. How long did your berry bomb seed take to germinate?

I think You'll be fine with the indicas for the stretch just watch out for the sativa girl

That's fuckin crazy man 35 year old seed hahaha
Yea I'm actually guna agree with what budsmokah was saying before about topping a plant, but only with the sativa, and it looks like you did that anyways so thats good.... just cause she may stretch like crazy. But your 1/3 of the way through the stretch already, they will stop growing taller(for the most part) after 3 weeks in(2 weeks for the indicas

Your super lemon haze looks like its Indica put next to that old sativa plant lol.
My 90% sativas look almost like that but still a bit more wider in the leaves, so yea I'd say that's pure

You should be find with your hydro nutrients if you made it this far with no calcium or magnesium deficiencies in the coco than you'll be good. It's probably largely due to the Calcium and Magnesium in the water coming from your tap. If your water changes depending on the time of year then just keep that in mind. Check the ppm in your tap water if its stays the same all the time then you good to go

I just checked for ppm and barley got a reading.. I looked at my hydro nutes and it has alot of cal and mag in it so I guess it works fine with coco.. No deficinces at all since they germinated ;)

Thanks for the compliments !! Yeah shes a pure OLD SCHOOL!! Smells like fresh mint
