Good question about autoflowers.

24/0 is useless IME
Really? I like 24-0. Always run 24-0, unless it's right in the middle of summer and I can turn off the lights for ambient temperature.

With Autoflowers being carbon 3 plants, please explain how 24-0 is useless please? Maybe I missed something...

I never said it is wrong. I am saying in MY EXPERIENCE 24/0 is no better than 20/4. The plants still like to "sleep" They still produce resin glands and terpenes at nighttime. But personally i do 20/4. to me there is no justification to run an xtra 4 hours on my hps for an xtra couple of grams.. I could be wrong.. But i have yet to see any justification for it.

I understand now that you prefer 20-4. Many do prefer it, I don't think they need sleep. There are some advantages to a dark period, rest the lights, save 1/6 electricity. For me, getting dialled in to 75f with perfect humidity 24-0 a day outways resting the lights and saving 1/6 electricity.

I do cure my weed and dry it in complete darkness though.

The difference in opinions is what makes it all so interesting. Imagine if there was 1 way to grow, man that would be f*cking boring. What the hell would we talk about on here? :D

Even if they need to sleep which is certainly debatable, is 1 hour not enough for a c3 plant.

Maybe we would be better off running lights for 20 hours with added uv, then having 730nm infared running for the other 4. IMO that would improve the quality and speed.

If auto's can make buds with the lights on 24-0, for me that is great. Plus I always run a veg tent with photoperiods on 24-0, so they don't go into flower randomly, plus I can grow auto's in a veg tent too.

I do respect your views though 20-4 growers :-D

I may pick up an emerson led from Budmaster and try it for myself. Excuse the link, but it is quite important and relevant to the discussion. I ain't spamming, I don't work for Budmaster. Also don't even own an led :-D

I would 100% do what you do if i was set to run that way, veg tent having autos in it is a great way man. 2 birds 1 stone. That is just it. Everyone has their own way to grow and different views on topics, it does make it interesting. I couldn't imagine just one base way to grow lol. Too boring. Like planting a houseplant haha.

In the future if my set-up changes to where i run photos inside again i most likely would run 24/0 too. But for now, photos are strictly outdoors and autos indoor. I am going to check that link out.

Yeah mate. Everyday I think about it. Like eating, sleeping, f*cking, enjoying life to the max... It's sad to say, but I also think about white cobs everyday too lmao

I grew up on leds. I'm quite new to hid lighting/cmh. Had cmh less than 5 months.

I almost pulled the trigger on 2 Budmaster cobx4's the other day. But I have so many lights already. It's questionable whether led cobs are better than 315w cmh. That is what is stopping me.

I'm rocking the cmh lamps :-D

They can be 1ft from the tops with zero burn, great light spread. I have 4 315w cmh, a 600w 400v ballast with dual spec lamp, 3 x 400w ballasts with philips master mh 4500k, various 400w lamps. 3 x 250w ballasts which I prefer, got 2050k hps, 6500k mh, dual specs. Cmh kits are all separate reflectors, 2 philips 4200k lamps + 2 Agro 3100k lamps.

COBS are great. especially if you can build your own setup.
i grow under 4 cxa3070 cobs,, only pulling 216 watts total, and harvested 8 ounces on the last grow
when I was using just 2 cxa3070 cobs I harvested 5.5 ounces, they work very good,
sereral people sale them now in the advertiser section here on rollitup,, kits and complete cob lights ready to go

I only use the 2050 for about 2 weeks of the grow as n extra lamp. Hard to say, but I'm sure it helps the plants pack on weigth much faster.

I cannot build my own set up. I have mental health problems, have never even wired a plug. Sad to say, but that's how I roll.

If you were building your own, how much would 9 50w cobs cost? The whole sha-bang, heat sinks, the lot please? Cost for everything?

both grows were done in the stealth section under indoor grows, many months ago, so they are kinda burried in the back logs

thats a good question for you to post over in the LED section, you will get allot of answers from the most current builders,

If I ever build another light, i will use the new passive pin heat sinks,, they only cost around 12 dollars, so no pc fans, and I would probably buy one of the kits, where the cobs , sinks and driver are all matched and shipped, plus the new pin neat sinks require NO drilling no tapping and no soldering,, really simplifed now,,
my current light will probably last my lifetime,,
