Connecticut has a panhandle? Nebraska's is bogus, it's almost as wide as the rest of the state. Maryland's is 2 miles wide at one point! You panhandle people are squeezed by other states, it must be a little odd, almost like you belong to another state.
Yea, other than Florida, I had only heard of Texas and Oklahoma.

My part of the state is called LA for lower Alabama.

When I used to cut my BIL's lawn, I would sing Mainline Florida {early eric clapton} as I cut the grass. The side yard was a perfect copy of the boundaries to the state, including all three coasts and the little jag where Alabama and Georgia meet. As I cut the grass, it was like the effects of sea level rise were causing the whole state to disappear.

A sunny start to the day, then more clouds later. At 1740 it's cloudy, 80F with 79% humidity. Forecast low of 71F with 60% chance of rain tonight, 60% tomorrow and 10% tomorrow night. 10 day high low of 81/49F with 8 days of possible rain.

We have a cold front coming through late tonight/early tomorrow morning. Could get pretty rough they say.

When I was guerrilla growing in the Midwest, this is the kind of weather I prayed for but seldom got this late in the year when I really needed it. Was pretty dry up until this forecast. Usually had a killing frost by 2nd week in Oct as well.

Around here if someone had waited an extra week for more growth before dusting Sour Moonwreck pollen on some really really late Epave de Raisin flower, they might find themselves hoping for a dry day to get it done, or be faced with seeds not finishing due to rotten rains down the pike.

The day started off grey. Clouds streaming out of the southeast, heading to join up with the tropical shit coming up out of the gulf around NOLA. We had a passing shower after lunch and the sun has peaked out a time or two. At 1445 it's mostly cloudy, 84F with 63% humidity. Forecast high low of 84/71F with 20% chance of rain today, 20% tonight and 80% tomorrow. 10 day high low of 84/48F with 4 days possible rain.

I may have said spin one up in the last day or two. This was not what I meant.

In an exceptionally rare occurrence for late October, two new tropical storms formed simultaneously on Friday afternoon in the Atlantic—Olga in the Gulf of Mexico and Pablo in the northeast Atlantic near the Azores Islands. The formation of Olga and Pablo brings this year’s tally of Atlantic tropical cyclone activity to 16 named storms, 5 hurricanes, 3 intense hurricanes, and an ACE index of 120. The 1981 – 2010 averages for these quantities by October 25 were 10.8 named storms, 5.6 hurricane, 2.5 intense hurricanes, and an ACE index of 95.5, according to Dr. Phil Klotzbach, so 2019 is well above average in most metrics.

I'm in Southern Oregon and NOAA is calling for 19 degrees Fahrenheit tomorrow night. I think I have no choice to cut them. But isn't the end of October still considered a late harvest?

We had our first frost of the year a couple of three days ago. I camped down at the river house, and there was thick ice on my truck windshield. Wunderground had our low at 36F. The local TV weather does a 24 hour change, and at noon we were 24 degrees colder than noon the day before. A 40 degree swing from high on Wednesday to low Thursday morning.
