Going from HPS to LED. Worth it?

How do you rate the kingbrite spec for $150/60
Whats your view?
I'm not really sure bro.
A lot of growers do well with cheap panels. It all depends on what you are trying to do with them.
The LED forum would be a better place to ask this type of question.

Been vegging well with them so far dimmed at 50-70%, can’t comment on flowering.

I had my one in a clone tent running at 100w 5/6" and it's made my plant sick :-(...
I tried turning it right down (20w) but then there was no heat, I ended back at square 1 with 4x T5s ;-)
I'll get to grips with it when I set up the other tent.

That's why there's redundancy -- fewer single points of failure.
One of my platinums has had a dead fan for almost a whole year and works just fine.

I'll get around to that one of these days... :eyesmoke:
Yeah that's all up to you, if it's working it's working. Maybe I am just sceptical from the gaming days where such a thing would lead to a fried mother board or Gcard.

5-6” is way too close. I have mine running ~160w and 24” above canopy.

Wow this thread has gone on a while. I suppose the bottom line to the question "Going from HPS to LED. Worth it?" is it depends on if you want to. Yes LED will grow fantastic plants. Yes HPS/MH will grow fantastic plants. Yes LED and cheaper to run and don't require multiple bulb changes. Yes MH/HPS have a cheaper up front cost. No not all LED's are equal. Do the higher end lights come with better service and warranties, I believe they do. Can you grow great plants under cheaper LED's that you built yourself or bought from China, absolutely. Is it possible to get a decent plant to grow under a blurple light from Amazon, yes if you have your grow dialed in. We all like what we like.
I spent extra money on HLG, some say they are overpriced, I agree. To me there were other factors I considered before spending more on them such as getting them from a Canadian distributor thus helping local business. Seeing results from a long standing trusted company in the real world from real growers. Getting a 3 year warranty, having a Canadian safety certification on it. Now that said I love my 1000 watt MH/HPS dimmable light. There are other factors at play but in the end it is all up to you. We all want to grow, we can all use different equipment to do it. Happy growing all no matter what your light source is :bigjoint: :peace:

OKAY U LED GURUS * & FOO'S. I currently run an LEP setup. I like it ( I love it second to the sun ) but I want to do a side by side. I've been drifting around in here trying to decide what to blow some stripper money on and the only thing I'm for certain is that I'm not buying an LED with a fan in it. Want to fill a 4x6 space exactly like my experiment room.

Where should I start? Ebay?

thnks
