Supposedly, we are supposed to have the resources to prevent default if need be. Granted our godly Fed actually doesn't lie to us. However, I agree, we need to temporarily raise it and start paying it off immediately though.
Im sorry but I couldn't help notice that you were seriously deluded when you said Wealth efficiently flowed from Central bank to the Economy. Dollars are not wealth my friend, the things that dollars can currently buy is wealth. The day 400,000 pieces of paper with George Washingtons picture on them becomes more valuable than my farm will never happen. Besides, the Central bank only deals in debt, and debt is NOT wealth either. Furthermore, if moving dollars into the system is what creates demand and jobs, what happened to the $4.4 trillion in money the Fed pumped out in the last while anyway? It sure didn't help unemployment, unemployment is now worse than it was.the sacrifices the greatest generation???? whaaa??

they knew the US would always pay it's bills and they believed in a country that took care of it's elderly, it's sick and it's poor. they believed in a country that believed that you needed not be part of the board to be taken into consideration by your politicians. they lived during a time when wealth efficiently moved from our central bank and into circulation, creating demand and jobs. they lived at atime when disposable income was taken for granted, they knew they'd come back to a country with enough wealth to go around....
