GG Bastard Series - Colombian Gold

:) That sucks, I sometimes throw a shallow tray or two of water inline with the incoming air booster fan in my seedling/clone cabinet to raise RH when they're starting out. Yours is really low though, try a humidifier?
Yeah that's gonna be the next step if these don't make it. I think I actually have a humidifier around here somewhere tbh..just gotta find it :X

Clones/Cuttings are resilient little fuckers. I didn't realize how weak n fragile they could start looking before bouncing back but all 6 are still alive so far lol...starting to perk back up and look a little better. I ended up throwing all of em in solo cups with some presoaked dirt just to keep the humidity in there higher, and then filled the bottom of the tray with some water n threw the heat pad underneath to get some of that water evaporating into the air around em...Idk it's 50/50 at this point - they might make it lmao. hard to say. I'm gonna grab bigger clones here in a few minutes and then check for light leaks before swapping out the MH for the HPS bulb n flipping the switch. Been kind of procrastinating it to see how the first set of clones fared..

GG#1 is officially female. Showing pistols on preflowers.

Genders:
GG #1 - Female
GG #2 - Male
GG #3 - Female
SBA - femmed seed
CSS - femmed seed

Not a bad turnout on the 3 gg's. GG #2 is gonna get pitched in the trash today after I take a couple more cuttings from it to ensure I can get some pollen to one of the clones here in the coming months. I've really enjoyed watching these 'bastards' grow without really knowing the strains or genders...adds a little uncertainty but I like not knowing all of the variables from the jump. Makes it a little more interesting

Hey Ayr0n, don't worry too much about the cuttings, if those don't make it or you want a couple more, I've been taking them through the stretch period last couple of rounds and they have been rooting faster/better imo. I've also taken them a few times at 3 weeks into 12/12, they take a little longer to root, then another 2 weeks to begin re-veg, but can become nice plants with a ton of off-shoots without training. One of the 3gal JTR's I have flowering was taken at 3 weeks into flowering. It wasn't looking very good when I first brought it in but now it has more buds, flowering faster than the regular JTR clone and looking decent.

I'll give it a shot cloning a couple weeks into flowering too. Looking like the first set is all gonna stay alive - they're standing up on their own in the dome and outside of the dome...keep em in with the new cuttings just to make sure they really root before I pull them out and get them fully acclimated. Killed GG #2 after taking another cut. I've gotta get the canopy evened back out and set up for the stretch in the next couple days / weeks. Gonna try to spread these 3 out a little further and then throw the critical sensi star in the cloning tent w/ the LED. I wanted to grab a couple cuts of the CSS too so I can't leave it in the flowering tent. It's way too small to get cuts off right now

Glad to hear, sounds like they'll make it :) Having pretty good luck with clones right now. Had the cloner full and wanted some more blue dream so I could run 4x 5Gal, popped 4 straight into soil, just scraped them and planted. Looks like all 4 are going to take, now I have 6 going - lol I'll just select the best 4 once they get growing in the cups.

Hell yeah I watched a couple videos / threads about cloning straight into dirt - u do it with a dome still ? One guy was saying If u put a lot of cuttings in a fairly condensed space they don't really need a dome bcuz they'll keep the humidity high themselves just from all the foliage and lightly soaked medium...

Not sure I could pull it off without the dome but I'm def open to try more methods

Rarely use a dome as I can usually keep RH over 50% in there, sometimes like right now I have the furnace running and it gets RH below 50% so I add a couple of shallow trays with water and line them up with the incoming air fan, usually bumps it up by up to 10% RH. Had one of those 4 drooping on me and put a clear plastic cup over it for a day, came right back, that's about as far as I go with domes. You can and may need to do something to get your RH up, if you don't have a ton of clones (to bring the RH up) then a dome over them should do it. Watch that your soil isn't too hot if you go straight to soil, they don't typically like that, lots of Pro-Mix or some form of peat in the cups works better.

So I finally switched to 12/12 and hps. Gonna put the Mh back in for the last week or 2 of flowerin and see how that works. There are a couple of the cuttings showing new growth so things are back on track. I'll get some pics of the clones n a week or so when they look a little better. I'm counting next Saturday as the "1st day" of flowering since it'll take a couple days to actually get things moving along

It would be a good idea to leave your MH bulb in untill the stretch is done. It'll help keep your nodes closer.

I pulled out one of the gg 3 clones cuz I had more of them than the others, and they definitely are rooted. Accidentally broke a couple roots pulling it out but even if that one dies I'm not too worried. I guess all of the methods worked so I don't really have a better one to choose for next time Lool..

I might run into a serious height issue if these things don't slow down :X If I can buy a bigger tent in the next couple weeks I might be able to tie them all down n turn that height into width but right now there's nowhere but up to go and that's where they're headed...Probably should have thought it through a little better...Colombian landrace crosses in a tiny little grow tent...hmmm

They're all throwing out pistols so flowering is on track. I think the 3 besides the CSS were already reaching sexual maturity so it was a good time to flip. Ended up keeping the CSS in the flowering tent, I'll just treat it like a 12/12 from seed and not have huge expectations for it yield wise. Just wanna smoke some homegrown critical - it's my boy's favorite strain so I figured I'd try it out

Lol, the size they went into 12/12 you're going to be wall-to-wall, they'll stretch fast for another week or so. Depending on how and how much they stretch, you'll need to setup something to tie/bend them down. How much height do you have?

MH should help, in theory, with the stretch. My girls stretched like crazy but other factors could have contributed.
I ended up using my MH nearly the entire grow and had amazing results. I know I don't have a control group but from previous growing experience, I've never had as resinous plants as I did this time. I also had good genetics and good food so I cannot say for sure that the MH was the reason but I like your thinking...MH until stretch is over, HPS for flowering, and back to MH for the last 2 weeks.

I'd say a good 2.5" feet left to raise the light before it's hitting the ceiling :S :S What do you think about literally bending them in half and tying them to themselves like this kinda:

Sorry about the shitty picture lol. I think they still have enough flex in them to do it without snapping the branches, especially if I kinda ease them into it ? IDK I could really see these things outgrowing the basement ceiling at this point. About a 1.5 weeks ago I switched them from 24/0 to 20/4 and that seemed to stretch them out quite a bit, and now on 12/12 they are reaching for the sky

So you'd say you got better potency under MH? That's what I've been reading too...I guess the red spectrum of HPS promotes wider internodal gaps but also promotes flowering development / denser buds, and on the other side the MH will promote more resin production or at the very least it appears to degrade potency less than an HPS leading to a better smoke if I'm understanding all of this correctly..........so the game is kind of finding a balance between yield/density and potency I guess

Yeah, you'll want to bend them, they are quite flexible. You don't want to be bending them as extreme as that pic though, that's more like a super-crop, which is fine in veg but now that they're into the flowering stage that would be too much stress, possibly causing them to hermie. I think they're in fabric pots so your best option is to find some bamboo or the like that you can stake and tie the large branches to. You have some height available so bending them you should be alright. This is where those trellises I use come in handy, if you can find something like that it would work.

Yeah, it seems that way. The UV light in the MH causes it to create more resin as a defense mechanism...I have very little information on this topic...just some stuff I casually was reading. Have not studied this enough to talk intelligently about it.

Looks like it might be a good time to learn about supercropping, I've never really done it so I can't help but @GroErr does/can.
Yeah it's easy and works well but the idea is to get new shoots coming up below the bend. But not this late in, you can bend/tie as much as you want but I avoid anything extreme like super-cropping at this stage, it slows them down and considered high stress, too risky imo from this stage on.

Yeah I'm with you...just kinda took bits and pieces of info from here and there n smashed it into a rough 'understanding' lol still suprises me how intricate growing a weed can be and how much influence we can have on the results
