guys, big pharma is already in the CBD game, just not in the USA because of our draconian drug laws and scheduling of cannabis. europe and even parts of the middle east are way ahead of the usa in cbd research.

i'm sure they are. and lobbying to get the laws rewritten to suit their needs no doubt.

and they should be. sorry to everyone out there who thinks theyre a doctor for growing cannabis but the potential of CBD will never be fully realized in a dispensary or home grow. why do you think the stanley brothers have effectively started a pharma company to work on their charlotte's web strain? theyre not employing former pharma researchers and scientists to help cultivate cannabis.

very possible...never really considered it. But yes they certainly need a new product with their waning market.

edit: it would be kinda neat to go buy a carton of joints lol.

On January 1st you couldn't get an 1/8th on the rec market for less than $60.

Now, go to Boulder and get 1/8ths for around $43 to $55 after taxes for mid and top shelf at Terrapin care station. Sometimes they have a bargain shelf strain for about $30, for an 1/8th. Probably not very good, but you can see where this is going.

There will be a slow creep of prices going down and quality going up as rec customers become more sophisticated and consistently demand quality product at reasonable prices. Prices will drop over the next year as more stores open and competition increases. Quality will increase as more time is given to growing and expanding grows.

Just wait a little while, prices will keep going down. You'll still be able to get good stuff, and I imagine the prices will be the same as the medical side this time next year.

I agree though that the whole rollout was fucked, and my fellow Coloradan taxpayers saw dollar signs when they voted to tax the hell out of the rec market. That was stupid.

Dispensaries also weren't allowed to swap product as they needed from medical to rec stores that were opening, or back. They had a one time chance, so I'm sure they cleaned out their medical inventory to be able to sell it for twice as much on the rec side. That's just business 101 plain and simple. If you were a business owner and had a chance to pay off loans, make improvements, etc, you would too. Doesn't matter if you lose all your medical customers either because now anyone can walk into your store. I'm sure they know that prices will eventually settle back down to where they were so this was a one time jackpot for them.

More thoughts on why I think prices will go lower:

The mere fact that prices are high will attract more people wanting to strike it rich in this next Green rush. When medical laws opened up and loosened restrictions it caused a huge influx of new money from investors and business owners looking to get in on the action. More dispensaries opened up everywhere. Prices dropped to achieve a good balance between what the customer expected to pay and what the stores could get away with charging depending on their reputation, quality, and competition in the area.

Same thing happened in California. Their prices are so low because the huge medical market attracted a ton of people that wanted to go out to grow some weed and make some money. How many "I'm moving to Colorado and opening a pot shop!" threads have there been lately? A million. And trust me, the people with the means and the interest are already on it, and more will follow as long as there's money to be made. Competition is assured with the prices as high as they are right now, and unless there's going to be a huge increase in smoking weed among people that never had any interest before, then I don't think demand will outpace supply over the long run. Eventually prices will go down to their natural equilibrium.

tl;dr The fact that prices are high will attract newcomers, creating competition and ultimately lowering prices. Economics!

RMJ sales are doing about 8 times the volume as MMJ from figures my clients have shared over the first quarter. That despite higher costs.

The same damn thing has happened in Cali but here its the medical market that killed the prices. At this time AA+ indoor is going for around 1600 per pound and the better outdoor is at 800. I have never seen prices this low. This next year could change though because were in a major drought most of the creeks and rivers are low or dry going into summer. I have friends that work in the supply market for the outdoor growers and there saying the big grows are going down due to lack of water going into the season. A plant here in Humboldt can use up to 5 gallons per day outside. If you times that by 1000 then again by 180 days that's a shit load of water 900,000 gallons to be close to exact. Around here there are more and more mega grows every year that size and larger. At one point our local internet news the lost coast outpost claimed that over 60% of the weed for sale in Cali came from Humboldt. The lack of water this year is going to kill production and shut down the supply moving out of this area and most of Cali for sure. I'm kind of glad in a way because most of the production outdoor is chemical infested, insecticide soaked, and just flat fucking sucks when it burns. Those guys don't give a shit if they cause health issues when there shit weed is smoked. I stay away from that crap even the close friends that I have that grow big use what ever they can to increase production at the risk of the end user.

Just bought some recreational from a dispensary. Walked out paying $144 for an ounce with tax. It's mid grade to lower top shelf. Tastes good and gets me blitzed.... How ya'll paying $60+ for 1/8s?

Wow this thread got out of control. lol. I just skimmed it over again...

I no longer see the need to defend myself to these jelly fools from out of state that somehow think they know anything.

I will say however that yes, I do feel that as a medical patient in need of cbd concentrates, that are very difficult and dangerous to produce, I have every right in the world to bitch at how much the medical side of things have changed. Even if I wanted to pay out the ass for cbd, you can't find it on rec side, and all the rec focus and bullshit has even caused the drop in availability of cbd on the med side.

We voted to legalize and tax the hell out of Rec, not Med, why should I suddenly have to pay double the price plus 30% tax on my medicine? And yea, I say fuck off because people that don't live in Co or that don't live in a med state, have no right to tell me I shouldn't bitch, or to even be involved in this discussion. So yea, would like for you trolls to fuck off!

PS> Whoever mentioned the Stanley bros, their cbd concentrate is poor compared to other's. They are just the ones you know about from the Weed "documentaries" aka using sick children and the MMJ hype to get ratings on a failing news network.

Posted on BHO Johnson's FB....

I need to make an announcement to all Colorado patients: I am no longer affiliated in any way with River Rock Wellness. My team was removed and replaced without my notification off of information based in lies and greed. As of this time there is NO RockBudder or Priva anywhere in Colorado, anyone claiming to have these products is lying and I can not vouch for the quality or efficacy of the product. I am working with every ounce of strength that I have to put mechanisms in place for you to have access to the quality of medicine that you have come to expect from me, it may take time, but know that I love you and have not forgotten about you. #lovelife #cbdnomad #freedfromgreed #nowitbegins
So you can see, I'm not the only one getting these vibes... This dude MADE RR what it is today.
