Germination

Hey you master growers, I have only germinated one time. I don't think I waited until they had long enough tail on them. How is the best way and most efficient way to go about. I do not have any set up other than wet paper towel.. appreciate your help n thanks so much for your suggestion:hug:

rapid rooter plugs, makes it easy to move. just pop'em out and move them.

the trick is to make sure they don't dry out, I'm very forgetful so starting in a solo cup its easy for me to over/under water them.

the plugs stay prefect, even better if you use a tray and heating pad, but its not completely necessary.

if you're a pro; you can soak them in water over night....beans cost to much I know id fuck this up for sure lol

if you spent any money on a seed, IMHO you will want to get some cuts of it in veg. just in case it turns out to be a nice pheno. you can MOM one of the clones and make MORE!!!. so be sure to get supplies for that.

LOL, you can see how this can turn in to a large operation from such a small seed, but tis addicting: cloning is super easy, and fun. and you can make the most of your investment.

I think that's why seed prices are so high, because if you get a decent pheno, they know you will just clone it forever, its like buying a life time pass to that strain in a way.

just start with some cheaps, they will give you some freebees, and that should be enough to find some good moms.

Ive found the water soak, paper towel method to work flawlessly besides just putting the seed directly into the soil if time restraints aren't a problem. If you want a faster way take about a capful or tsp of regular hydrogen peroxide and pour into a cup of water. Drop seeds in and soak for no longer than 12-16 hours. I've read some soak a full day but its never been necessary for me so far. Personally I've taken all mine out after no more than 12 hrs. Then continue on with the paper towel method but do not place them in a container w a lid. Just leave them in the open on a plate or whatever in the dark. Since I began this method I've had 100% germination after 1 or 2 days..this method is particularly useful for old seeds..good luck and happy growing

Every time I've germinated a seed, it's been via the paper towel method. I soak them in a cup of water for 24hrs(ish) or until they have sank to the bottom. I then place them on a water paper towel and fold to cover. The wet paper goes into a small plastic bag and I leave them to sit on the window ledge for a day or two. When the tap root is at about 1cm I'll plant them into my medium.

From this page I like @Bugeye and @SoOLED advice best . Not saying that the others is wrong but I've not had as good of results that way. Soaking over night and paper towels work for a lot of people but I don't use those. I like root cubes best , then transplant to Solo ............
Also I don't take cuts from autos but maybe someone else can commit on this.
When germinating seeds I like a little super thrive, great white

Anytime, give it a shot and I guarantee you will be satisfied...The peroxide can actually be used throughout your grow as well with waterings...has fantastic benefits to the plants. Most people have it already and no need to spend extra $$ on something so simple..

I've never understood the use of the "paper towel" part in this process...I mean if you're soaking for 24 hours only to put the seed in a paper towel to "see it sprout" seems like a wasted step...Why not just soak for 24hrs and stick it into a grow pot and skip the paper towel step??? It's not like a 5th grade biology class where you look at potato roots in a cup...just my opinion...g/l all

If your soil is very loose like 50% broken down hardwood bark and some soil I would plant it straight into the final pot.
Soak the seed for a few hours in liquid kelp if you have any before planting. Never go scratching in the pot to see how the seed is doing. It is super easy to break off the new taproot at first.

I always use a damp paper towel/napkin this time napkin to germinate. I do not personally use jiffy pellets or rapid rooters so for me it goes into a fairly damp paper towel folded up, put into a sandwich bag , sealed and put in a dark warm spot and germination is sometimes overnight. I personally do not care for the soak method. I also prefer my seedlings to have more of a "tap root" before they go into seed starter mix. Every method I suppose is good but this is the only one Ive ever used. Started these monday morning.20170725_093753.jpg
