Full moon. Yes or no?

I'm a fan of the Full Moon, and have posted several times about it. I've found it to be very energetic, trippy on the high dose level, and has a high ceiling.

With that said, I've only had 4 grows under my belt, and can only compare it to my first BS grow, then AI.

I haven't had a problem with hermies, but I have noticed some variation with the seeds. My first grow it was loaded with trichs, and the plant was about 5' tall. Second grow with it was clones, and had similar results.

Third grow with it I popped two more seeds.

One seed is a much shorter plant, and I'm 53 days into flowering and it's just starting to show maturity ...buds are getting really dense, high trichs, and starting to develop amber hairs. Much quicker then I expected, based on the first two grows. About 45 days or so in, this plant did show what I think is a cal\mag deficiency. I increased cal\mag and seems to have stabilized out.

Second seed looks like it's mimicking the first. Taller plant, not showing signs of maturity, but still being quite frosty. No signs of the cal\mag deficiency under the same feeding conditions.

The difference in the maturity rate is very interesting, but I have very little experience to compare that variability to other strains\breeders.

Overall, I'm focusing on this as my main strain. I'm cloning both of these plants and growing them for a 5th round - it'll be interesting to see if the variability between the two seeds continue to reproduce themselves. Take it for what it's worth, given my experience.

Peace.

Again, very limited experience here - but I do have to say that I've enjoyed it so far, and have not had any issues with growing it.

Drake S I tried to pm you. Dunno whats up with that, maybe cause I'm a newer member but do you have any pictures of your full moon grows? I skimmed your forum posts but didn't find anything. I particularly interested in the 5' tall plant. I'm trying to see how tall these like to get with/without height management techniques.

Mix FM and Ice 56.jpgFM P2 59.jpgFM P1 56.jpg

Hey Guys - here are some pics. Sorry, haven't been on here for a couple days.

First pic is my current grow. Mix of Ice and FM. Fm are the two plants with the larger main colas (second from left and far right). The other two pics are the FM mains, day 56.

As far as feeding goes, I would say moderate. Meaning, I haven't had to tailor feeding specifically for them versus any other strain I've grown (limited strains - BS, Aurora Indica, FM, and Ice).

Looks delicious Drake. I'm using super soil with that strain, so I'll let you know how it goes for me. I've been running 24 hour veg cycle, but I'm not sure the strain is taking as well to it as I'd like.

Here is a cut and paste of my grow regimen for these guys (have a grow journal on another forum) - probably should have included it earlier, but you know how it goes :) -

Environment:

Veg: I have been cloning and germinating to 1 month vegging using individual CFL’s with very little environmental controls. For me, this stage is not as critical to the flowering stage, so I’ll concentrate on my flowering environment and feeding.

For the veg state, I basically start with FFOF and don’t add any significant nutes until flowering. I do start with a weak tea to hopefully encourage early myco development. Tea is served twice before switching formulations.

Initial Tea, bubbled and heated using a fish tank heater, for 24-48 hours, delivered after about three nodes are showing :
1 gallon rainwater
1 cup EWC
1 tsp Endo Myco\Humic Acid blend
1\2 tbsp Mollasses ( I take full strength molasses and dilute it with 3 parts water, to make easier mixing and handling)
1 tbsp Maxicrop

After about 1 month of vegging under CFLs, I switch the plants over to my primary growing area and veg for another two weeks.

Late Veg\Flowering Environment:

Grow Tent: 4’x4’x6’. Standard ebay grow tent.

Lights: 400 HPS

Ventilation\Scrubbing: 1 12” oscillating fan – indirect air flow. 340 CFM Inline Blower sucking through 250 CFM carbon filter scrubber.
Humidity: Veg – keep at 55-65RH using humidifier if needed. Flower – Keep at 40-45% using dehumidifier if needed.

Nutes- light feeding:

AACT every feeding, basic formulation, nothing new:
1 gal Rainwater (tap in winter, with CL neutralizers)
1 cup EWC
1\2 TBSP Mollasses (diluted in water for easy mixing)
1 capful Maxicrop

I alternate between this light feeding, and a slightly heavier feeding.

For the heavier feeding, I add the following:

Seabird Guano (10-10-2), 1\2 tbsp – 1 tbsp depending on maturity.
Jamaican Guano (1-10-1), 1\2 tbsp – 1 tbsp depending on maturity.

If I use Jamaican Guano, I’ll add 1\2 tbsp of Fish Emulsion.

1\4 tsp Endo Myco-Humic Acid blend - about every three waterings

I top dress additional nutes, every two weeks using the following:

1 cup EWC

1 tbsp Epsoma Tomato Tone (3-4-6)

1 tbsp Dr. Earth Kelp Meal (.6-.5-2.5)

1\2 tbsp Epsoma Garden Lime

I don’t know if this regimen is optimal, but I like alternating between nute sources, and mixing it up.

i have 3 ak-48's 2 full moons, and 3 white rhino's, the ak's are 27 days into budding, and the white rhino is day 7 from seed and full moon is day 7 from 1 month of veg, but the ak's seem to be realy easy to grow for me, i done no ph measuring or anything, just light nutes and grow

Yup sounds right. Under MH light the thing would just pop node after node; bushy is an understatement.

I just wanna know how any of you are keeping your AK48 alive. I have 5 Nirvana strains going now and this AK 48 wants to canoe every leaf and die. Every other strain is a model of health.

I know this sounds alarmist of me, but it reminds me of what people are calling TMV or a virus of some kind - the plant could be sick. Try foliar feeding with some cal-mag as calcium inhibits the virus, and another option is using plain aspirin believe it or not. (The doses I've been reading is at 325mg a gallon, but it needs to be pH balanced big time.) Not to mention silicon and such to increase cell strength.

I'm probably out of left field but I had some issues like that recently and its had me worried, dare I say paranoid. Luckily it doesn't seem to be major or affecting anything. You might just have an issue with heat/pH or the usual stuff... I'm still not sure if all the fuss about tobacco mosaic virus (or something similar) being transmitted is fact or fiction, but I hope this information is worth a try for you once you've cleared all the other bases...

Oh and hydrogen peroxide would also clear out pathogens in the soil too. But again it might just be an imbalance of some kind or just a plant that needs some extra care. And another question. do you smoke ciggs?

My biggest worry is Nirvana's seed bank is contaminated with this and it could pass on to other seeds, again, hopefully not but it worries me nontheless if this sort of thing is spreading like a bad horror flick.

I always grow AK-48. I love that uplifting high and it makes you want to get up and do something. Sometimes I grow White Widow with AK-48. I get my seeds from Nirvana and have never had a problem. I also use Attitude.
