Fukushima

What's worse, this or the millions upon millions of tons of chemical weapons, which are being released from decaying containers in increasing volumes by the day, we've dumped in the ocean? Aliens won't have a hard time figuring out why humans, and the Earth, died.

Neither will we.

We've already done it on a smaller scale; Easter Island was once a thriving society with some 9 clans. These clans competed to show who could gain the most prestige by building huge stone monuments, which required intensive labor and many trees.

They ultimately denuded the island of trees, thereby destroying an essential food source, a lynchpin of the ecology, and the main source of raw materials with which to make homes and boats for fishing.

Then, they starved while killing each other over the last scraps of food.

The same fate awaits our entire planet and all of our children if we fail to learn the lessons of Easter Island, because the only difference between them and our society is that we now possess and use our advanced technologies to strip and pollute the entire planet as opposed to just an island or a region, leaving nothing with which to start over.

Fukushima is only the beginning.
