I really couldn't tell you with out soil tests being done but it has to be in the right range,,, with compost being all veggie scraps , potato peels , lettuce, carrots etc etc
coffee grinds and even used fats being applied in proportion when making compost ,, one would think compost is super rich,, mixing it in with Quality top soil also is beneficial with 5 months of veg time which is pretty long plants are healthy ,, and like i said first stage of this soil has done its job ,,, i will post pictures as she goes further into flower i think the grass clippings as top dressing is key to keeping the plant healthy and moving forward along the way
we have to realize its not the high NPK what plants needs its the right proportion through out its life

Another FPE. This is 100% butternut squash. These were killed by a vine borrowing larva. They ripened on a dying vine but the size makes this only worth composting.
As you may know, squash is high in potassium. Porbably some nitrogwn and trace elements as well but thats negligable for this purpose. I weighed a kilo or chopped squash and a kilo of nonchlorinated water. I added 4 T EMe and 4T molasses. Ill wait a minimum of 10 days befoew straining, bottling, and using.

1L nonchlorinated water
Handful balled up dense of marigold and horehound leaves (neem, peppers, chives, onions, etc. works too)
30mL each EMe/molasses
Mix and bottle for 5ish days to ferment and extract

Seperately, mix 1oz garlic into 3 oz cooking oil or mineral oil. You can eyeball this. Let this sit in a cup or something for the 5days and then mix the two together.

Strain it when you want to spray and dilute it at least 1:100 and max 1:250 for a more frequent use.

Since it contains fermented microorganisms o would recommend adding equal parts molasses in the spray. 10mL molasses + 10mL EMe into a liter of nonchlorinated water.

Again, EMe is Effective microorganisms extended from EM1. You can and may use probiotics tablets if they're on hand. If you skip the microbes your liquid might putrify in the 5 days. To combat this i recommend blending all of the ingredients together and straining. Dilute all the same and spray within 24 hours.

Yea. You can't really go wrong with the sun. I've heard it be compared to 1000 watts indoors but I couldn't really prove that. I start seeds and veg indoors during winter and fall with a lot of biodiversity and a 360 watt LED. Sometimes the diversity is methodical, like horehound with squash. Lately I have noticed some large grass hoppers or locust just hanging out in the main garden. They seem to be focused on eating my cabbage though. You can use bait plants as well. The problem with that is eventually the population of your peat will increase ooor if you're lucky the predator of the pesr will make itself known and balance is restored.

Oh snap, i forgot i bought a frickin light meter! if it's a full sunny day i will go out and test, and test my 600's downstairs as well.

I found a large oak decomposing in the woods. It was in two pieces. Each about 8ft long and 1ft diameter. I crushed it up some with a shovel for half an hour and then burried it with the useless part of the indian hemp I grew and lots of bokashi.

I'll leave it until spring. Like puncksatoni phill's version.

Oh snap, i forgot i bought a frickin light meter! if it's a full sunny day i will go out and test, and test my 600's downstairs as well.
TBH 1000 watt closer to what the sun produces then a 600 watt will ever be we are not talking effciency here were are talking photons and energy and if your smarter then a 4th grader a watt is a watt comparing a 600 watt grow to a 1000 watt grow is well FUNNY there is no comparison just do the math it is noon somewhere every minute of the day as our planet spins in the path of the constant energy from the sun. Clouds, pollution, shade, angel, atmosphere, reflection… all reduce the 1383 watts per square meter that is just outside our atmosphere trying to get here 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. but we can assume that 100 watts per Sq foot actually hit the earth
so putting it into perspective 3 x 3 or 9 sq feet you are at 66 watts per sq foot far cry from 100 watts the sun nails earth with now a 1000 in a 3 x 3 area = 111 watts per sq foot
should we go 4 x 4 area and compare ????
5 x 5 area ??? or just look at average yields 600's compared to 1000 side by sides ???? i can guarntee you single 600 watt vs single 1000 will lose everytime shit just look at the punny 600 watt bulb compared to a bad boy 1k

no one is challenging that a 600 watt will produce more than a 1000 watt in a harvest. We all know that 1000w will yield more (grower depending though because my 600 at the least keeps up and/or outperforms a lot of my friends using 1000w). All I'm saying is in my grow i will never use 1000 watt because the plant doesn't need 1000 watts. there are plenty of results that show 600 is your most efficient use of light in gram/watt. not to mention the heat produced by 1000w lamps. you can also keep 600 closer to your canopy than 1000w so you're really not losing all that much. I'm gonna try and fire up my lux meter.

SO the lux meter has told me that today on my space of the earth the sun is giving 120000 lumens measured from a height of ~7ft. one ft. lower was 105000 lumens. now depending how how close your light is to your plants, achieving these numbers with a 600watt bulb is more than easy. the problem is the spread of the light. (as with any bulb), the more you get away from the 600 the faster you lose the lumens. around the outside perimeter of my hood was about 55000-60000 lumens. and in the center of the hood is 120000 at the height that my canopy is with respect to the hood.

Shulby you need to understand something here you mention you can run your lights lower then a 1000 i do not have pictures anymore but i ran 1000's 15- 18 " from tops open ended all the time reflector Scrog
now 1000's There is a area where par stays the same 15 - 24 " i believe do not quote e on that " from tops you lose hardly nothing as in par but a 600 18" away from tops move it up to 24 " and huge gap of par is lost so there fore yes you lose a lot ....

lower the light less area of coverage raise the light and less par where 1000's 18 - 30 " is same par.. relative
Why do you think these Gavitas or any DE unit are usually set around the 30 " from tops "" its not the heat its the power it nails downward you start lowering that DE to 24 " or less shes is bleaching cause of to much light huge difference between 600's and 1000's and gram per what thing lets not even go there bottom line its watts per sq foot that is important not lumens but if you wanna talk lumens lol 600's 88,0000 1000's 140,000 Plus which is brighter ???

are you saying that my tool, LUX meter, is lying to me? 600w lumen output at 12" = 90,000 lumens.... what about at 1"? cause my LUX meter gets maxed out at the highest read setting.

a bulb will only produce what its capable of i guess if you clock your ballast it might raise lumen a bit but if manufacture states the lumen on the bulb that is max lumen from initial start up from there it goes down hill :) not up hill
and yes your lux meter can be lieing to you

KIMG0696.jpg under here I burried a net sack with 2qrts of soil, a gallon + of horse manure, and some fermented bananas in bokashi.

Also, I stuffed two CLAY pots with this same banana compost and previously extracted bones (crushed and spent from a vinegar extract)

I'll dig this up next year also. Oh yea and l also filled a shoebox with bokashi, peat, vermicastings, and lastly, most of this mixture is decomposing oak bark to resemble BD505.
Idk why I even bothered taking a pic of this part. . shoulda take a pic of the nastyness I bestowed into the ground
