Uhm, Canada doesn't have socialized medicine, that is the UK. They have socialized insurance. Canadian doctors do NOT work for the government, from the NYTimes:- and our coverage is already over 80%... So we could be paying less as a nation and have universal coverage
Canada is taxed up the ass for their socialized medicine. And why would a doctor over there have any incentive to be a more educated and better doctor than the next? Remember they are employees of the government.
Canadian physicians are not government employees. They retain a great deal of control over when, how and where they work. Instead of being paid salaries, most of them bill provincial governments on a fee-for-service basis. Canadian hospitals are also autonomous institutions that are generally, but not necessarily, governed by local health authorities.
The U.S. healthcare system is vastly inferior by almost every measure, that is the lesser product... And you will still get to choose your shit with Obamacare, it just mandates that you must buy insurance and there isn't even a public option so wherever you get your insurance care it'll be through a private insurance company and our doctors remain in the private sector as well...OR we can be "free" to pay twice as much, for a lesser product, that's less available to the masses.
What's the lesser product? I would rather have the choice to choose who and where I go.
