u can add more nutes than needed to dry out the plant without burning it.at least in hydro.so the idea isn't as retarded as you might think.
it's all in the books.people just need to read.

Lets see here. Ed Rosenthal's Marijuana Growers Handbook (official course book, Oaksterdam University).
Looking for "Flushing". Nope none listed!
Looking in the Index for "Flushing". Nope, none listed!

Worth Freeman, Biology of plants
"Flushing" Nope, nothing!

Joey Green, Gardening magic
"Flushing" Nope, nothing!

Leslie L. Iversen, The Science of Marijuana
"Flushing" Nope, nothing!

J.A. MacCaskill. Plant Nutrient Facts For Hydroponic And Container Growing
"Flushing" Nope, nothing!

One thousand And One Gardening Secrets
"Flushing" Again, nothing!

In total, 59 books and texts......Guess what? NO FLUSHING instructions, or even the mention of flushing. This includes 14 books on hydroponics. Several papers on tobacco growing in soil and hydro - NO mention of flushing!

Flushing is for toilets!

NOT plants!

"Flushing" supplements > Flush money from your wallet! PERIOD!!!!

FLUSHING IS A MYTH!

The only thing that needs a flush around here is this myth from the minds of misguided and moronic minions of so called "magazine growing guru's".

All of those who still believe flushing makes a difference, Please line up on the right so Chuck E can supply you with a good swirly! @chuck estevez you're up bro!

If you have to flush something went wrong. People don't get that:wall: don't over feed and you won't need to flush.

New comers are always so hell bent on flushing because they love their plants soooooo much more than we do that they give them extra AN ferts to get them big and strong

Salt buildup is a sign of overfeeding.
If your nutrient maker say's to "flush" salt build up and your not in Coco.....Change nutrient!
If they say to water for an amount of run off. Change nutrient = their crooks.

For any "too much" or "lock out" nutrient related soil problem.
Simply water with pH'ed water (6.5) with a Ca/Mg (every other) for 5-10 days, until new growth looks normal.

Feeding should be every other watering with synthetic nutrients!

Ya know what? Lets look at leaching/flushing like this......You pour a massive amount of water through your plant.....how does it go? A gallon for every gallon of container size? Haven't I seen that as 2 per?

Bad move....Your roots will now sit in overly "wet" soil for days! Too much wet is bad for roots! Too much wet is bad for pH! Too much wet will stress the shit out of your plant!!!!!!!

You water your soil and the pH swings one way. As it dries back out, it swings back the other....
This is a fluid pH value that moves all the time (soil) as it's moisture content changes.
Nutrients are most available to the plant at differing pH values.
Nature is supplying this pH swing to cover this nutrient availability effectively!
Now this "too wet/too long soil" thing is adversely effecting your soil's pH by keeping it on one way of this "swing" for too long!
You have now, in effect, given yourself a "lock out" to some degree!!!
A flush like this will appear to help but, in reality, your plant will take longer to recover and remain in a stress state longer. This will slow growth and make the plant take longer to move on and grow as it should be.....
