Flowering / Revegging

I was wondering what the downside or risk would be to placing 3- 4 week old plants on 12/12 to determine sex and then place the females back on 18/6 to for additional vegging.
It would help improve my use of space, lighting and materials.
Any feedback would be appreciated.
Thanks

Yea you can do that. I always thought you had to flower a clone to show sex, but iv read from the canabible and other sources that say all you have to do is flower until they show sex, but probably not much longer after. Iv never tried it myself im only on my 2nd grow, but i vegged for 9 months so its all good :)

Thanks
from what Ive read so far it seemed to be acceptable.
Like you I am only on my 2nd grow and am working out the bugs.
I did my 1st out of one fairly large closet. I was reasonably satisfied
but decided that since I have the space I could create a propogation / vegging
area and a sexing / flowering room.

The downside seems to be the slowing of the plant flowering process. I reveted a cutting and cloned and vegged it under 24hr light for about 3 weeks. It grew like thunder, so I put it back outside to star the veggin' again, I took others that were started from seed and they've passed her up big time as far as flowering, she is growing more than flowering. But i'm still watching, they have been outside since the 17th of august.

Thanks Sunahura
I suspected some downside and as part of my 1rst grow
I took some clones from a female that was outside and just
started to bud like crazy even with the longer days of summer.
I was successful in getting them to root and just starting to reveg.
At the same time I had plants started from seed that caught up
and passed these clones up. Unfortunately I put them all on 12/12
and the clones did not respond well to the change. I suspect they needed
to vegg more.
Anyway thats what got me thinking of 2 grow rooms or areas.
I figure from seed and gaining more experience with cloning I can improve
my overall production besides the obvious addittional space.

I quess perfecting your cloning skill is a big thing, I know for me it is. I got the rooting down to a 90 percent success rate, but getting a stable cloning grow is a little crazy, reversion is a bitch, but we'll see how it goes. If u get a good flow I think u can do it, but my problem is like u said two rooms, because you don't want to be cutting clones from a reverted cloned mother, that shit seems stressfull.

hey not to bore anyone but i sent 18 plants to sex 10 days ago
and ID 5 males and 4 females today . Placing the females back to veg and
considering keeping a male for pollen.
put 9 more back to sex.
also had 12 of 18 clones make it so far plan to repot them this weekend
i am excited to see how my plan works

I see that this post was still getting some views so I thought I would update as to what my experience has been so far.
So far i have pressed forward with the idea of sexing first then moving ID'd females back to vegging. The strategy so far seems to be working for me.
I have been able to get some really nice looking clones and repotted their moms allowed them to stabilize in their new
grow bags and back into flower now. I am experiencing right at a 50% m/f ratio which seems to be what most folks say they are a seeing. As for me I think it is helping me eliminate males and be more focused on the girls.
One thing I have noticed is the males tend to show first. Is it me or has anyone else seen this.
I wish good luck to all

Hey how's your high everyone!..Just wanted to add to the discussion because I'm currently in the same boat. I think that Flowering first is the essentail way to go you flower then based on your results vegg the girls for as long as you want no bs males after 2 months of growing.. One thing I didn't like was that I got a herm by doing that has anybody else run into a herm. I think its due to the stress revegging the plant does but I'm doing pretty good. I have a grow journal with all the details concerning my grow(which is 100% organic). I hope this thread picks up speed I like it.
Oh yeah tip of the year wanna revolutionize your yeild add 2 tsp of azomite to a gallon of purified water during vegg and flowering
