I got plenty of help getting restarted from good folks on here... Damn right I asked for help. You dont and didnt know anything about my situation. please keep in mind that some strains of cannabis, particularly equatorial sativas, are genetically programmed to carry on their lineage by producing male pollen to fertilize themselves. Hermies dont mean you cant grow, or that you should immediately spray toxic chemicals all over your buds, just that your plant is working “as designed” by its DNA......grow a different strain or find a phenotype not prone to herm.

Psychadelibud gave the absolute correct information on how to use Florel. PH between 4 and 5. Temperature below 79°. Lights on but dimmed. 250-500ppm. Works perfectly.
Ethephon has been used in horticulture and agriculture for 60+ years. It is incredibly safe and is simply 2-chloroethylphosphonic acid. What this means is that is essentially a stable way to hold ethylene. Once the ph rises the ethylene is released and that is what causes its myriad effects in plants. This happens when a solution of the proper acidity hits the leaf surface which has a much higher ph.
It is rapidly converted to ethylene and no residue remains and no lab could detect it. It is safe and easy to use. Ethylene is one of 5 basic plant hormones found in nearly all plants.
The guy yelling clearly doesn’t know what he’s talking about.
Think about this: ever have a seedless watermelon, seedless orange, seedless grape? All are produced with ethephon. Ever eaten rice, wheat, pineapples or drank coffee? Ethephon. Ever worn cotton? Single largest user of...guess what? Ethephon.

What’s your application rate? I seen that a ph of 4.5 is necessary. Also do you do it when the lights are on?

1) I mix it 30ml to one gallon. Give it a good shake...

2) Then, I add a 2 or 3 drops of Ivory soap to act as a sticking agent.

3) Adjust pH to 4.5

4) Shake again really well...

5) Turn all the fans off, apply.

6) Dim lights

7) I spray the entire plant, buds and all.... I dim my lights down to 50/75% power (usually 50) and I spray them till they're dripping. From bottom to top. Under sides and tops of leaves, buds etc... Stop and give a decent 5-10 second shake as you go, in intervals... Also try to use your solution within 30 mins to 1 hour max of mixing.

I spray around 20 to 30 (max) minutes before lights off. Keep fans on high to help dry the buds quicker and The next day return light power to high (normal). The solution should not soak the inner parts of the dense buds, only the outside.

A few nanners are nothing! The product is crap and your adding a PGR to your smoke. There was a product by Dutch Gold that was reported to do the same thing....... It was BANNED and discontinued - years ago.

Acts like a surfacant - it breaks the surface tension of the water so it actually contacts the leaf surface.

Ethephon will not be found in the harvested flower material. Ethephon dissipates quickly, I forget how fast but within a matter of hours. It turns into a gas *ethylene, which I am sure you are aware of?? If you leave the jug of unused product mix in the room with a lid off of it, by the next day it will be bone dry.

Therefore this product is absolutely safe and will not leave ANY residual traces, period.

I suggest you do better research Doc...

Dial in better! That includes your environment..

It's like the fear of light leaks.. it's basically meaningless in the real world.....In over 40 years. I have only ONCE had a true herming strain that threw nanners and balls everywhere. THAT had NOTHING to due with any lighting issues!

I don't spray every plant I grow. Only when a stressful situation has come about. Like a month ago my electricity went out for over 7 hours during lights on, a few days later I had a couple throwing nanners. So I sprayed, that ended the issue within a few days.

I know and am aware of all this information you are explaining to me. But I don't grow for only myself, I grow on a semi small commercial scale and my customers don't want nanners in their buds. They look bad and they taste bad. This I know from experience. My room is dialed in pretty great, always has been or i would not be producing such a high quality product.

And I agree... in my experience most of the time the nanners do not produce seed, but sometimes they actually do. My flowers need to be aesthetically appealing for my customers. Period.


So the point, is that everyone's situation is different. In my case, no I am not wasting money... I spend under 20 bucks for one bottle of florel that had lasted me over 3 years... Not hardly losing anything at all. However, if I just let the ones that throw nanners go, then in that case I will be losing money because I only deal with flower. I dont make concentrates, strictly flower and none of my customers wants those in their buds...

Personally, I never deal with strains that throw many if at all. If they do, that's why the trimmers have tweezers at their stations...

The few nanners that show up? Have no effect on the quality or yield....

psychadelibud, thanks for the spray instruction. The strain I've been growing has hermied almost every crop, it is a huge headache.
I've tried optic foliar switch on my last crop. To my disappointment, it did not kill the male flowers or prevent seeds.
I'm going to give Florel a try on my next crop.
I just like to ask, if you know it's a hermie prone strain, and want to spray to prevent it. When is the best time to spray?
When I tried switch, I followed the instruction and sprayed on day 7 of flower. But by that time, I've already found some tiny balls growing.
