I would say its a good thing. But i will let someone else chime in on length of press as not done it myself jut watched alot of people do. Have you watched any of the videos of the guys that made the sasquash? I believe they hold it for 15 seconds? He would be the 1 to check out as he certainly attributed to the rosin craze

The characteristic of rosin has almost everything to do with the composition of the gland-head on the plant. The sizzle you hear is steam being created, necessary to chaperone the oil away from the bud and onto the parchment. Depending on the material you work, you'll get different rosin qualities. For instance, GG#4 rosin is almost always greasy and won't pull off the paper unless you put it on a cold slab. The hence the "grease monkey". High CBD strains are also sappy and greasy. The more terps to THC ratio, the sappier it is almost as a rule. THC is stable/shatter, terps create the sappiness and buttering.

I press for 8 seconds regardless of if the sizzle stops or not. 285-300F is my preferred temp. You want flash-boiling (high heat) to get a more complete extraction (this can be accomplished by increasing pressure though, but for lower pressure presses you need much higher temperatures).

So if I use a vice? Higher than 300? And sizzle is good?
