first time pc enclosure grow box

when I popped out rivets on my case I used a phillips screw driver and some muscle and just grinded them out. My drill wouldn't fit in there to get at 'em. The aluminium is pretty soft.

hahah. man I went from my first pc grow, to a second one, then a speaker box, then the other speakbox, then a dresser, then a bigger dresser, then more speaker boxes...there's no end to it man. Just try to plan ahead to satisfy your new growing addiction lol

Better than any of these options would be the bridgelux EB series strips or the Samsung H series strips. You can get them in 1 foot or two foot lengths. I use a bunch of the samsung ones for a bigger grow but one 2 foot strip would be a badass pc light and mount it to the top of the case. Produces minimal heat and the aluminum case would act as the heatsink.
Heres the 1 foot bridgelux one

@haze010 Can you link any more info on these type of strips? I've heard about them here and there, but is there an informative thread about them somewhere I could read? Or at least a bunch of chatter about them buried in a thread somewhere? thx

sorry OP. not trying to hi-jack, just looking to get pointed in the right direction. :)

Cobs are great yes but for a small space any PCB board light is gonna be far superior as it checks off all the boxes for a pc like build space.

Its lower heat issues than a cob because the diodes are spaced out accross the strip instead of in one giant cluster like a cob. For heat issues with a cob you see that pin heatsink on that pic, signifigantly reduces the height of your space with it. With the strip just mount it to top of the case, the aluminum of the case itself should be more than adequate for heatsink. These strips are the new cutting edge thing, they feature diodes that are top notch in every aspect i have 16 twofoot long samsung H strips running 700mA pulling 320watts from the wall, the thing is badass and i can flower a 2x3 foot closet with it to the point of it being more worried about too much light than not enough. If someone is buying those e27 lights and disassemblign them for the board and driver to mount in a case, these strips are soooooo superior its just silly.

If youve seen the excitement about quantum boards, the samsung h strips are essential the same thing. Its the same 561c diodes on a strip manufactured by samsung themselves instead of HLG buying the diodes and putting them on a PCB in their own configuration. The bridgelux EB strips are of the same quality, not quite as good but less expensive.

If you look thru the bridgelux EB build thread in the led section that jelly already linked thats 40+ pages long of info. There are multiple many other threads in the led section about these strips.

Im shocked cab growers arent more aware of these suckers and jumping all over them. Its the *perfect* small space growing light. One two foot length can be had for under $10 but then youd need to buy a driver for it and the stuff to wire it, just like you would if you bought a cob.

Updated pics - was able to strip out the rest of the case. Found a better solution for the walls. Still using CFLs totaling now around 90watts , mainline was successful and have started super cropping - trimmed and started the lollipop

i am contemplating water blocking a COB with a CPU block - thinking i could attach it with a U-bolt brackets slightly modified. then a PC res pump and rad. this would cut down on the heat sink size dramatically. i can cool a 7700k with this set up that would turbo at over 100c with a passive heat sink like i see cobs using. really it could go block to block to block and get more than one chip going. Im jusst shocked i havent seen anyone attempt this. or maybe just a simple 140mm AIO liquid cooler and figure out how to attach the cob plate to the block.

i went ahead and bit the bullet, I ordered tent still a smaller sized tent 24x24x48 i got my autos in finally, and have started germination. Im still going to attempt t5's with supplement 6500k cfls (4 total 45w each) i made a carbon filter out of a pc fan coffee can drill activated carbon some panty hose and a cut to size filter pads. it moves some air so hopefully it works. The random plant is still alive and doing well, i've since topped it 6 times and have 12 total mainline nodes for growth. (pc case works fine, but height wise i was looking at a nightmare with autoflowers.) i only plan on keeping one plant growing at a time, i might keep the pc for a clone to save on seeds, but havent ruled out getting a secondary tent if i have too. i sat down and said fuck it, took what i wouldve spent for a months worth my meds on the street; and put it into a proper set up. Im looking into a single quantom board kit i might try for the next round and or flowering stage, fundage permitting.
