First Grow In 6 Years - Chemdog, Berry Ryder, Northern Lights

Berry Ryders and Chemdogs are between 12-13 days since breaking the surface - northern lights are 10 days from sprouting from the surface - I just watered with nutes for the first time at 1/4 the recommended dose (3-3-3 Dr earth all purpose organic nutes) and 1/2 strength silica blast...had a ph of 7.7 out of the well n after mixing n nutes n letting it sit for a half hour I adjusted the pH to 6.6:

I've been foliar feeding a very light mix of nutes, silica blast and neem oil for the past 5-6 days about twice a day...

Be careful with those nutrients most potting soil should have enough nutrients in it for the first 3 or 4 weeks. Still kinda young for nutrients imo. But so far so good!

Thanks for stopping by Big Spliff - I am a little concerned about burning them bcuz they are so young and they are AF's, but I went real light so hopefully they'll be alright. Looked a little hungry :) The Dr Earth All Purpose 3-3-3 nutes called for 4 tablespoons per gallon and I did a little less than 3 teaspoons to a gallon (~1 tablespoon). The silica blast might have been a bigger does than what they need right now but it shouldn't hurt much (hopefully - ran a little less than a half teaspoon to a gallon)

No problem. Im not familiar with that brand but you should be fine. I just like to wait till there a little older to start feeding to be safe.

Lookin real good ayron. They really bout to take off as they get more and more leaves. Your gonna have to raise those lights daily before too much longer. Man I love autos for that daily change. So much fun to watch.

How's that double cup transplant? I think I'm gonna try it this run.

Really hoping they take off soon lol. They are still hardly growing vertically - just putting out more n more leaves n staying really short so far. Was thinking maybe I should raise the light to make em stretch a bit more. Other berry ryder and nirvana NL journals I've followed seemed to be a lot more lanky / taller but it's probably too early to tell w/ these gals.

Transplants went real smooth. Probably one of the least stressful ways I can think of to transplant. I did it a bit early (they were hardly filling in the cups w/ roots), but all 7 had at least an inch n a half taproot (couple closer to 2.5 inches) hanging out of the bottom when I raised the inner solo cup out of the outer one, so I figured I'd give em the bigger pots to dig deeper...Only issue I've found so far is that I didn't bury the solo cups very far into the 3 gallon smart pots n they can move pretty easily - don't wanna accidentally tap one too hard n snap off the roots :\ There's still some room to add soil n the 3 gallons so maybe I can secure em a bit more n pack it down...

Hit em lightly with nutes this morning when I watered - got some Biobizz Root Juice and Advanced Nutrients Sensizym on the way (should be here Friday) - gonna hold off on the main nutes for the next watering n hit em lightly with the root ones...prob try out the full AN line on the next run but didn't wanna get too crazy the first time through.


Edit - Oh another thing to consider w/ the double cup transplant: LST will be hard to do unless you really bury them suckers down n the big pot. Not much surface area at the top of a solo cup to tie them down n mine are way too high up from the 3 gallon smart pots to tie to those...didn't think about it until it was too late...

Plants are surely coming along! I'm starting my second grow, first one which I'm gonna try and make it count. Why not start with an Auto to try and make it a bit easier.. Blue Mystic Auto from Nirvana. I'm looking to get Northern Lights Auto in future if this grow goes good. You definitely look like you're way more educated on this then me. I'm so inexperienced I'm just doing a microgrow. Goodluck, gonna follow this thread and hopefully yields what you desire and some!

At least you have room in your pots to put more soil. I always leave a lil room to add some on top. The extra room is also useful if you plan to do any topdressing. Wouldn't want anything overflowing and going to waste.

Don't stress to hard about them not shooting upward as fast as you would like. Im telling you when that root system reaches out into that 3gal and can grab all that goodness and she has a lot of green leaves photosynthasizing to prosses all that yum yum the roots take up combined with the stretch going into flower you will be amazed at how fast they progress.
I read a journal last night where the guy put up pics every week. He labeled each set with the age/week. It's not long at all and if I remember correct it's all the way to harvest( which was too soon) and really shows the progression of these autos plants. The strain is sweet seeds red poison.
I'll find it and get it to you soon.

The cup thing is to transplant an auto with minimal risk to disturbing the rootball. I haven't used this technique yet bit I have read about it. Basically instead of removing the plant from the cup you cut the bottom off and bury it into the larger pot. Plant never knows it relocated.

Hey Badanga thanks for stopping by - shooting for 20g dry weight per plant...I know the genetics are capable of a lot more but not sure if I am lmao. 5oz total goal - hopefully more!

I definitely wanna check it out - for as much as people talk down about autos they seem to be amazing to me. Would be sweet to set up a time-lapse camera for the whole life of an auto. Think I've actually got a Sweet Seeds Green Poison bean TBH

Sup danny? Yeah just like polo said, I pre-cut the bottom of a solo cup out, placed that one inside another solo cup (put in drainage holes on the outer cup) and then when it's time to transplant you can real easily slide out the inner cup and place it inside a bigger pot without disturbing the roots at all. Everyone told me autos will get stunted real bad if you stress em from a transplant n to start in the final pot, but I saw someone running this "tiered method" transplant on a diff forum n thought I'd give it a shot. Seemed to work pretty good. Guess the added vertical depth for the roots is supposed to help a little too - still trying to figure out how Ima tie these girls down for some LST if they ever grow some legs under em though...
