First Grow: Are My Girls Looking, Okay?

Here is a look at the girls just after my first go at 'making it rain' for them. They're hanging out at between 34-35 inches and have not really gained any height in a while - but they're packing on the buds very nicely. As you can see, the photos are just the upper 12 inches of the main colas. There are at least 8-10 smaller branches on each plant that have decent 4-5 inch colas building on them, and some little buds all around the bottom trying hard to catch up. I may decide to harvest most of the plant and keep her going for a little longer to get some decent buds from those smaller ones left behind. Any thoughts on this...is it worth it to cut part and then let her go more for the rest?

Very nice colas man!!! Did you feed right after flushing? Thats how I do it, also what was your feeding mix of nutes? Can you get a close up on the colas and crop the pic to see her trichs? Those are very nice buds bro! Good job. How you get to see a difference with Making It Rain. Just give them a day after you do it and you will see those leaves perking up nicely and she will suck up all those fresh nutes. Sorry I get excited about growing. Hey I will show you my last plants I harvested on my 1st grow. I too had a plant with sweet colas! LOL

EDIT: Those are my girls trimmed in my avatar
Please post more pics tomorrow after she goes through a full day of light. Keep the temps around 78F.

Hey Manditroy, I see making it rain has helped to fatten up those colas:) You girls are ready looking great. I plan to make it rain with San at 7pm tonight when lights come on. I waited 3 weeks because the soil already has nutrients in it. I still have to introduce nutrients slowly to San but she better be tough because I'm going to push her ass:)

As long as you flush your soil really good all the nutes will be out...thats gives your soil a clean slate to remove all nutes build up and salts. Then you coat the soil with fresh nutes so when they go into Hyperdrive they are wicking water and fresh available nutes for vigorous growth. I love it and I already made it rain on a 7 days old seedling....she handled it very well....Plus I zapped her with Big Bloom Nute feeding after 7 days old and I flushed in a party cup. LOL

Your raised rack idea is great! How about those wire racks used for cooling hot cookie sheets and pizza pans...maybe not tall enough but I'm going to look around the thrift shops for something like that.

Here is a pic of the cheap platform I was talking about. Its pretty sturdy and good enough to get the job done!

Tried to get some close-ups of the very top of the main colas, but these are cell phone pics so it isn't going to show trichs. Will maybe try later with a better camera...

These are the bottoms of my girls, up to about the point where they start to fill out with smaller side colas. I'm seeing more amber hairs now, which is good because the fan leaves are fading and dropping off faster every few days. You can see the fiberglass fence rods I had to add to tie off my ladies - the main colas are so heavy, they kept leaning too close to the lights and I don't want to burn my buds.

This is an example of the 9-12 smaller side colas I have going on each plant. Most are 4 or 5 inches long with more smaller buds down the branch. I'm hoping they continue to bulk up so my yield will be a couple ozs per plant. What do you think, is that possible from these girls? How much did you get BKB?

Will post more later when I have time... -Mandi

I have been really watering my babies in the cups with enough water to get a nice rain. I notice that Terrie looked like she could use some nutes. I wasn't sure if I should give them nutes yet but I will now that you mentioned you have given your baby nutes and she handled it well.

If you are Making it rain you can do it but start off at lower dosages. Go 50% and work your way up. Its personal preference but IMO I would give them nutes. Start off slow with 25% if you want but if you are Making It Rain then you should be feeding Nutes too. Hope that helps

Your plants are nice man, but they do look hungry unless you took those pics after you made it rain on them? If not then they are hungry. I would recommend getting a bottle of Micro Blast nute, I use Earth Juice MicroBlast. Also get some Blackstrap Molasses in a supermarket or Henry's if you have them where you are. I also recommend you make it rain on them for now on if you havent started. They still have some time before being ready so they will bulk up some at the end.

Yeah BKB, those pics are from after the rain... I did give them a small dose of Schultz (10-15-10) nutes at the end of their shower. They were ready for their usual drink on Monday morning, so they got the full regular amount with nutes again. What does the Molasses do? Is it really helpful, and can I mix it with the Big Bloom and Schultz nutes?

Nobody gonna take a minute to inform me about the Molasses? I assume it supplies a nute of some sort, but what exactly? -Mandi

Its a sugar and carb for your plant to add some bulk and swell up your buds. You can put it with anything. I highly recommend you put a 1/2 mil in each gallon of feeding. Use both Schultz and Big Bloom with Blackstrap Molasses. You said you want to bulk those buds up well lets get those nutes up with Molasses.

Can you translate 1/2 mil into standard US measure...teaspoon, etc. I never did take to the metric measures, unless we're talking a 2 liter bottle of Diet Coke. LOL -Mandi

5 mil = 1 teaspoon(tsp). So 1/4 tsp would be fine in one us gallon. LOL

Meant to put this up yesterday...its a full pic of my girls - including their 'make it rain' platform. They're two days from finishing their 7th week of flower. I only have a 5x magnifying glass, so I don't think I will be able to tell trich colors with it. Need to try to find a CHEAP 30x somewhere. Do they have that kind of stuff at Home Depot? -Mandi
