First grow and need advice

Im going to be growing several different strains of autoflowering ( anubis, smokey bear, cheese berry, AK and white widow) I have a list of things i need to get and was wondering what would work? if i can get a good yield? (atleast 2 ounces maybe 1.5) Im going to be purchasing a 400 watt HPS in a closet (roughly 6 ft tall and 2.5-3 ft across) using biobizz premix with organic sunkiss (or however you spell it) compost with a little perlite. i was also going to be using biobizz organic nutrients as well. Again i just dont wanna fuck up the plants and get an alright yield. Also i have a hydroponics store 20 mins away from my house. So if anyone could help me and give me some advice i would gladly appreciate it.

6 foot tall cupboard that's not very wide , I would go with a 600 not a 400 for better light penetration ......
I don't see any exhaust or fan equipment in your list
Cupboards with powerful lights inside get hot quick,
just my bit.....
could go on and on and on...........

i was going to put a small wall mount oscillating fan in the closet as well, but do i need an exhaust system and will the fan be able to cool the bulb off? Also thank you for the advice. Also would chains help me with keeping the bulb at a 400 watt so i can just hang it at whatever height i need? Thank you again for the help.

Depending on what reflector you are using you can by from the hydro store roller hangers , these allow you to adjust height up and down simply,
Even if you use a 400 heat build up would be high , this hot air will need exhausting with a fan and filter if smell is also a concern, as hot air rises you need to exhaust from above the light,
Your plants will also need fresh air , it's a good idea to draw this in near the bottom of the cupboard, you can do this passively without any equipment or use a fan intake setup,
The Os fan you have will be needed for plant strength and air movement.....

oh ok i get what you mean, i live on a 3rd floor so heat would be high as it is but im not to concerned about the smell. So a fan that would go into the reflector would cool the lightbulb off enough? Just wondering hypothetically would i be able to just use the HPS bulb if i have a plug in mogul socket or do i have to use the reflector because where i am im not able to build an exhaust system in my closet. i know i sound stupid and a little needy but just lookin for some help where i can get it. The reflector is to direct the light toward the plants and is needed , the heat is caused from the bulb and has nothing to do with what floor you live on , the smell should concern you unless you live in a legal state/country , and if you mean a cool tube fan to your bulb that is inclusive of a reflector it's built in .........

Ukclonebank summed most of it up. My only advice is stick with the 400. it iwill be more than enough to light a 2.5 -3 foot room. Enjoy the grow!

so since i need an exhaust how would i set that up in a closet, like cut a hole in my closet door and put the exhaust through there? cuz i dont think i have anywehre else to put it. Sorry to nag just trying to figure this out.

Hey 420 I'm a noob to this too and I'm about a couple weeks in to my first grow, I would personally say get the whole closet set up before you start! Im runnin a 600hps in a 6ft x 3ft x 6ft high closet and trust me the heat is ridiculous! I'm about to install a carbon filter to sort my heat/smell problem and without it im hitting 34-38 degrees which is way too high but I was impatient n wanted to start asap. One bit of advice is to research as much as possible before you start or you will end up in to deep, anyways good luck!

I would use the 600 not the 400 as you have 6ft in height and you want penetration more than spread as it's not that wide ,
I would be using a jigsaw to cut a round circle out on the side at the top for the exhaust duct to come out of , the fan and filter are attatched inside above the light , kind of like this ,

Research and save , you can't go wrong ....

If your strains cant produce the yield you desire then you will never receive the satisfaction you seek. Each strain that you just listed on the first page, how much research have you done into each one? Have you googled the name then "review" at the end or anything of the sort? A lot of companies will put a yield weight that always isn't accurate, especially if the strain is unstable and they are trying to sell it anyway. The reviews are good because they talk about "dry weight" a lot of seed companies will post the "wet weight" (the weight right after harvest before you dry/cure). Which if it get the wet weight quotes you will prob end up with about 1/3 of that weight dried. Your new thats cool we all were at one point and time but the one thing I suggest. Research EVERY detail about your grow, the strains, ideal environments, various ways to maximize your yield etc.. Afghan kush ryder is lanky you could easily fit 4-6 of these in that space
i have the same exact area on floor space except im at closer to 3.8 - 4 feet by almost 3 by 4.5 feet tall

Does it yield well tek? I was looking for another to seed, the one i have now is 85 day harvest. A 55'ish day one would be a good bumper and i hear great things about the potency but not much on yield. I do plan to grow outdoors with these so the environmental conditions are more in my favor (especially where i live ).

I was wondering how many plants are going to be in that closet, 7? What growing system are you planning? You might want to think about how many plants you are going to fit in that closet. Good luck.
