First DWC grow

I think I got some kind of plant eating larvae in my room. Been noticing leaves ripping in certain spots that I took as just overcrowding and leaves growing into others. So yesterday the rip got bigger(maybe the plant leaf grew and the rip got bigger that way). I was checking the leaves for bugs, underneath, on top, stems. I saw what looked to be a very very tiny caterpillar on the underside of one of the ripped leaves. We're talking wicked tiny, I was really ripped so maybe I saw it moving when it really wasn't. I tried to take it off but it blew away in the fan, so maybe it was just debris, not sure.

I have my microscope for next time I see it. Only sort of freaking out right now only because I don't want what looks to be my first harvest ruined by a fucking bug. Couldn't make an ID to anything on the bugs sticky by grizzlyadams.

Bugs on leaves? Nothing makes actual holes in the leaves except catapillers and they are usually large. If it looks like the sap has been sucked out of the leaves and you have black spots and some "shinyness" then you have thrips. Easily killable with spinosad. Bugs that really suck to get rid of in growing are Gnats and Mites. If you don't have those 2 we can fix it lol

Scanned all the plants today leaf by leaf and couldn't find anything. Im not sure what you mean by sap sucked out. Don't see any shinyness aside from one spot that looked like sap was on it. Was like a brownish color. Don't see black spots really, some of the edges of ripped parts were dark green blackish. I cut those parts out. Upon scanning the leaves I ripped some edges up a little bit. I'm thinking of tying string on nodes that have ripped/eaten leaves. I see holes mostly at the edges, not like inside the leaf. Some tears where the leaf contorted a weird way.

Definitely not fungus gnats or spider mites. I was thinking thrip also, but not so sure now. The ripped parts have like light green around it. I'll have to take some closeups tomorrow. It's on like the top growth mostly, maybe lights too close? Got them 2-3 inches above.

Not sure really. I'm monitoring their progress closely.

Thanks for making me feel a bit better about the situation. Cant help but feel down with all the issues i've experienced in such a short time growing. And now the FCJ won't produce new main tops. Its like the fan leaves and these 2 sets of hairs one on the fan leaf branch and the other at the cut site. The side growth is coming in heavy to take its place, i got like 6 different tops from the sides all at canopy level. About 15 inches now.

That's fine, those will be your new tops, the plant will recover, don't worry about em.

looks nice, and the nodes look so uniform, one sweet benefit of growin from beans, ive been on clones for the last 8 mnths, and all my girls come out looking gangley,

2 month veg, way too long, but im honing it in
27 days for the pineapple express

Soaking:

World of Seeds Legends - Afghan Kush Special (pure afghan kush) pure indica
World of Seeds Legends - Chronic Haze (pure haze x pure chronic) mostly sativa
Seedsman Seeds - Power Africa (i think durban poison x skunk i think) mostly sativa

I'm really looking forward to the afghan kush. My buddy grew the landrace and it was good definitely can handle a slapping or two or three, this should be even better than the landrace.

Now to the pics: Taken yesterday

whatsthis.jpgCLEANSHAVEN.jpg16inches.jpgtopfail.jpg10nodes.jpg7 TOPSSS.jpgDSC03842.jpg
Fruity Chronic Juice -Fantastic growth on this one its about 2ft+ wide already, lotta node growth, perfect for a mother plant, its a shame I cannot keep it back for cloning practice, but it looks like this will be the bulk of my yield given the shape of the others.
1st picture Shows lines, not sure what it is?
3rd picture Shows about 16inches, its closer to 18 now.
4th picture Shows my tops not coming in
6th picture Shows top count, 7 up top 4 of which are topped and 3 are hidden underneath, 10 nodes all together.

Is it a good idea to run another trim through it and then throw it into flower the next day? I want to remove some fan leaves that are blocking bud-sites, i'd cut those lower nodes out but they're already at canopy level mostly and will produce nice dense nugs, I hope haha.

cuttoohighup.jpg4 nodes, weak.jpg14inches.jpgsuccessfultop1.jpg
Bubba 76 - With only 4 nodes coming off and growing incredibly slow due to the huge umbrella leaves up top, I don't think this will be a big producer. It did get a successful top going on though, so theres that.

Lollipopped it a bit too much, its about 16 inches tall now with the thickest stalk out of them all.

successfultop.jpg13inches.jpgDSC03829.jpgleafcurlweird.jpgscraggly.jpg
Veneno - Scraggly a bit, weird leaf curl in 4th picture, about 14 inches tall. Another successful top.

1st picture you can see the left top slouching. A lot of the growing tops on the side growth are drooping also
2nd picture you can see circled the side growth outgrowing the main tops.

DSC03812.jpgDSC03814.jpg
Pineapple Express- Doing a lot better since I upped the nutes. Havent changed the res in 2 weeks, noticing this brown gunk on the roots, not slimey. Might be growstone dust and/or tea residue. Not sure.

Plant is still sending out new root growth and growing so not worried just yet.

Ah, I bet you're a mars volta fan, I saw them open with a perfect circle years ago, not my type of music but def interesting to watch, the bassist really feeds off the drummer and the guitar player slung that guitar around like it was nothing. Nice grow .

Indeed. I've seen them 4 times since 2004 and it's always a unique experience to say the least hahaha. They switch up musicians all the time though, been through like 4 drummers and probably the same bassists. It's weird i've never seen a band go through so many lineup changes in such a short time frame.

Thanks sir!

Didn't end up starting a power africa.

I got Chronic Haze and Afghan Kush in RW last night and today the AK is already sprouted up and ready to open up its cotyledons and first mini set.

Feeding them young girls .2EC for now. The AK will probably be a heavier eater so rather than being lazy like I did last time with the blueberry gum and kept feeding it a higher feed that the rest enjoyed i'm going to cater to the sensitive ones.

The Pineapple Express is really kicking in, upping the nutes definitely helped. It's taking .6EC right now and has some nice nodular growth going on with tiny mini leaves and vertical side growth. They're so cute at this stage, haha. Deep down it has blemishes from my newbiness, but i'm learning and progressing forward each attempt.

Building a flowering area, can give me advice here: https://www.rollitup.org/grow-room-design-setup/523949-need-help-placement-room-8x10.html

Got the wood up on the ceiling and the poly on one side stapled to the wood and taped over to make a nice seal, going to poly the other more pain in the ass side tomorrow and throw these bitches in flower hopefully Sunday.

Heights:

G13 Labs: Pineapple Express - 4 inches (30 days)

WoS - Legends: Chronic Haze - 0 inches (24h old)

WoS - Legends: Afghan Kush - 1 inch (24h old)

Eva Seeds - Veneno(poison) - 17 inches (65 days lol)

Delicious Seeds - Fruity Chronic Juice - 20 inches (65 days lol)

Emerald Triangle - Bubba 76 - 19 inches (65 days lol)

Thats it folks. No pictures this time...Just some nice guitars to blaze to.

Just a text update again. Been moving so haven't had time to finish the flower room up. Way too busy sucks. Waking up at 5am and going till bed for the past few weeks is killing me haha.

Messed up my tea...while it was brewing I had shut off the air pumps for the last 24hrs. Been using aquashield at. 4 to 5 ml per gal. Yo BBC if you still reading this what dosage you use?

All in all I think this is a successful first attempt at dwc.

The pineapple express is about 8 inches and looks amazing just like the fcj starting out
Bubba 76 is 23inches
FCJ is 23inches
Veneno is 21inches

The chronic haze that's in RW had rooted out in 48hrs of setting seed as did the afghan kush. They got too dry yesterday morning and the chronic haze root tip dried out a bit and this morning it hadn't improved. The AK is white and branching now. They'll be bucket ready in a week.

Excited to send em to flower and see how they perform. Hopefully that'll get done today...its has to these are gonna be some beasty girls. Ill have pictures later.

Note to self...Building a tent is a lot harder than working for the money to buy one.
whaaa? have u seen my 'tent' made out of wood and poly. Spent maybe 50-60 total for a 5' x 8'. Look how much those cost. Key is not having to build a structure. Use what you already have around (the room).

I tried to just use a piece of wood as a pole and wrap poly around it for 2 walls as it was going into a corner of a real room. Problem after problem. Then had to take something out of the area which I should have done before, but i'm an idiot and I ripped the poly in a spot, rather than repair it like a sane person I tore it down. Waste of 20 dollars and 3 hours. So I take the 3 big plants out of the tent and put it in the room, slap a timer on the hps turn it on and call it a day.

With the tent closed up not much light leaks, a few spots like where the zipper is for the side door and tiny pin holes where the velcro vents are. Problem is now the tent is getting hot. Going to have to buy a fan for it to circulate air through a few elbows to try and trap some light leaking out. Got 2 clip fans blowing around the air and will check temps in the morning for now.

My choice of time spent today was poor and I would have been better off buying a cheap 250cfm fan and hooked it up for a fraction of the time and aggravation.

Totally stewing right now.

HPS light looks mean, I need sunglasses.

Thanks man! Good to have you along for the ride.

Are you going to make a journal for it?

I'll have pre flower pictures up tonight. Today marks their first day at 12/12.

On a side note I have to get a fan, the veg tent was 83(not too bad, little high) but the water was 24C about 75F. Way too hot. Was thinking of taking the pineapple express out at 8inches and flowering it so it doesn't grow bacteria in that bath water its in rofl. Getting a fan today.

Good luck going into flowering... Glad to see you made it! I was worried for you in the beginning, but good job on keeping it going and not giving up. I can't wait to see how your flowers turn out... I'm coming to the end of my first grow as well so I'm excited to see someone else's. I'm on my 6th week of flower and just added Koolbloom (dry) to my feed.... Hopefully we will see a final swell. I should have posted a reply with some pics of my plant, but I've been real busy lately and all the time I have to put into my plant goes into my plant. I'll probably take some pics later tonight considering she is entering her final few weeks. Anyways, keep it up man. I'll be watching!

Who knows, maybe I'll put together a summary of my grow and post it for you guys... If I have time this week it's a posibility
