Female noob here again! I think I have a hermi...

If you don't want your other ladies bred then I would probably get rid of it. If the hermi is in the same room then there's a good chance you are going to get some fertilization. Go to a borders or a smoke shop and get Jorge Cervantes"Marijuana Horticulture the indoor/outdoor medical growers bible" This will teach you "Japanese":) You can get chemicals that will change the hormones but I wouldn't bother wasting the money. It sounds like this is one of your first grows and this is the fun part about learning how to cultivate this amazing plant!!! When you become a caregiver and you have several patients and you are growing 100's of plant's then I would look into the chemicals. Buy your genetics from online or if you are legal a lot of dispensaries have seeds from actual seed producing companies. I have ordered online and the genetics have been far superior to most of the bagseed that I have cultivated.
Thanks Tommy, yup...first grow. I can grow veggies and orchids just fine...thought with my skills I would do an experiment....without Big Bro watching. Wish I felt comfortable about ordering seeds, etc. but since I can't, this is what happens to me...Hermi!!! Toquer suggested I get a product called "Reverse" and keep her. My few in veg are not ready to flower yet (they are only 3-4 weeks old now), so I have some time to figure all this out. Trial and error...trial and error. The Loner was just an experiment, why not keep experimenting, right?

Def wanna cull that one one.
Maybe I should start a poll. Something tells me that the majority would most probably agree with you... I could call the poll..."To cull or not to cull...THAT is the question" LOL

Cull it unless you want to collect pollen from it. The best part about this is the valuable lessons learned you get from growing.

Hey it's all just an experiment!!!! Love it!!! Do what you want. I flowered my first hermi and you spend alot of time picking the male flowers and you have to be diligent and do it at least every other day and you still will have missed some:) The tell tale sign when you see that yellow powder on the leaves below:) Try to keep the breeding to the minimum and you should have good buds to smoke:) MJ is a survivor that's why they hermi and that's why bagseed has alot of this. I ordered my seeds from bcseedking.com. I'm not promoting them only than I have had 100% satisfaction with their product, stealth packaging and the seeds are reasonably priced (50 or 60 for 15 seeds). They are Canadian so only 1 check point and cash is king it can't be tracked:) Trust me when it's steath packaging that's what it's going to be, I've received some cool extra things (headphones, ipod holders etc). Definetly get that book though, every grower has it and yes I am promoting it and Jorge Cervante! Here's some positive feedback and I'm going to subscribe to your thread. Good luck:) PS keep your girls veging until you harvest your hermi, this will keep the girls from wanting to get their freak on:)

Tommy, well all I got is time, LOL I can really keep an eye on it every day and many times each day. It would suck if I had more than one plant. I can totally understand why someone would just get rid of a bunch of them. But just one? Hell, with the patience and time (probably more patience than time), why not give it a try? Thanks for the info on that seed company in Canada.:-P

I will keep the others in veg FOR SURE. Those will not be flowered in a tent! I learned my lesson... I also bought some Reverse, but they were out of the penetrator. So that is on hold, until they get it in tomorrow. Was reading another thread about the claim that it is just a gimmick (snake oil) but I guess it is worth a try anyhow. The thread I read was like 18 pages long and from 2 years ago. Well, I will see what happens, if anything. It is just like everything I read on here...for every one person that believes in something, there is another that says don't believe in it. Thanks for the support in experimenting" and thanks for the +feedback!!!

How many of you guys have used Reverse/penetrator with a hermie? What were your results???

i've never tried the reverse, i just know it's their claim and have spoken with others that have used it successfully. i do love the penetrator though. that stuff smells delicious!! especially when mixed with APS for a clone foliar spray. i think you'll get much better light penetration now that you've allowed more further down. was a but more than necessary, but it's a learning curve.

only reason i recommend cutting leaves off is because we can't mimic the sun indoors. can't even try really. a light stationary on a plant that is stationary casts the same shadow at all times. a shaded part of the plant is more vulnerable to insect attach, fungal illness, and negative effects of stress. outside the sun penetrates through the leaves and even the shaded parts of the plant are capable of photosynthetic activity. HPS lights arent very good at doing this. but what do i know...lol. i'm just a grower like the rest of us.

Toquer, just pm'd you btw! So I butchered her, huh? I am even more bummed! She's going to die, she's going to die OMG! (pause for female hysterics moment)

I don't know...I just went crazy on it, right? Is it a goner? Riddleme told me not to mess with the plant (back when we thought it was a girl) and gave me a whole explanation about the different leaves (shade/sun) and how they relate to humidity and food storage. Wish I had seen those pics you sent me before I went crazy on the hermi...

Right now, I feel just like I did when I was a kid and I cut my bangs the first time. "OOoooo I will just take off a little more to make them straight...oh well...just a little more...ooooo just a little more." Needless to say, when I was done...I had 1 inch of bangs left. I looked like Hitler and the next day I had school pictures. Not a good thing...but I can laugh about it...at least now I can!!!!

this is too funny... sucks that you spent all this time just to find out...

that is hillareous!! you didn't butcher her bad. ur growing in a tent straight up. by the time it is dead you'll have some good experience for the others in veg still. they are a lot more flexible at this point so if ur gonna do any tying it's a little every day.

today sucks out here...rain in the forcast. looking out at an empty yard and a spinning electric meter. i really hate making my girls suffer under 1000Wers.

RiddleMe is one to follow. If it was mine I would cull that hermi. That pollen is un-stable so not worth saving. Water kills pollen very fast so I wouldn't worry, just mist everything. I've been trying to say why Fan Leaves (or known as shade) shouldn't be trimmed. Uncle Ben had this great post on why. Hope this helps.

Gawd, one reason I hate this topic is I seem to get sucked into it every time LOL! :-P

I respect THE cannabis botanist of all time, Robert C. Clarke and also Mel Frank. I also know botany and have decades of plant growing experience.

In his book "Marijuana Botany", Robert Connell Clarke states that:

Leafing is one of the most misunderstood techniques of drug cannabis cultivation.

He states that there are 3 common beliefs:

1.) Large shade leaves draw energy from the flowering plant and by removing the large fan leaves surplus energy will be available and larger floral clusters will be formed,

2.) Some feel that the inhibitors of flowering, synthesized in the fan leaves during the long non-inductive days of summer may be stored in the older leaves that were formed during the non-inductive photoperiod. Possibly, if these inhibitor-laden leaves are removed, the plant will proceed to flower more quickly when the shorter days of fall trigger flowering,

3.) Large fan leaves shade the inner portions of the plant, and small, atrophied, interior floral clusters may begin to develop if they receive more light.

Few, if any, of the theories behind leafing have any validity.

The large fan leaves have a definite function in the growth and development of cannabis. Large leaves serve as photosynthetic factories for the production of sugars and other necessary growth substances. They do create shade, but at the same time they are collecting valuable solar energy and producing foods that will be used during the floral development of the plant. Premature removal of the fan leaves may cause stunting because the potential for photosynthesis is reduced.

Most cannabis plants begin to lose their larger leaves when they enter the flowering stage and this trend continues on until senescence (death of the plant) He also states that removing large amounts of fan leaves will also interfere with the metabolic balance of the plant. Leaf removal may also cause SEX REVERSAL resulting from a metabolic imbalance

He goes on to say that cannabis grows largest when provided with plentiful nutrients, sunlight, and water, and left alone to grow and mature naturally. It must be remembered that any alteration of the natural life cycle of cannabis will affect productivity.

You can stick with who and what you want. I'm not running a popularity contest around here lol.

i agree with Uncle Ben 100%!!

but from my experince indoors vs outdoors and growing plants in both areas at the same time, there is a need to do trimming, training, removal and overal manicuring for both instances...that being said...there is far less of it to do outdoors.

Taipan- Yeah, I would rather NOT be pulling seed pods at this point, but things could be worse! I could have cut my nails a few days ago and this job would REALLY be a lot harder to do. It is like I have my very own built in clippers :-P

Here are the babies. In my journal I began to call em BSG's (Bag Seed Grow). The (3) in the 2 gal pots are just over 4 wks old and the (4) in the 3" peat pots are all over 3 wks now. BSG 1/2/3 got repotted in a mix of 1/2 Happy Frog & 1/2 Root Organics a few days ago. I was kinda thinking instead of wasting soil repotting BSG 4/5/6/7 into 2 gal pots too, that I would repot them into 5" peat pots instead and then try to sex them in those. If any females show, then I'll go ahead and put them in the 2 gal. pots. What do y'all think about repotting during first wk in flower?

Toquer- Well, I hope all is not lost in my moment of "temporary insanity". Found just a few more seed pods this morning and pulled them suckers off. It is kinda fun in a way. I am learning where they like to hide and I can spot them much more easily than I could in the beginning. If the pod has white hairs coming out of it, it is not a male part, right???

So what have your friend's results been when using the Reverse/penetrator products? Have they seen less pod production? I am curious if anyone has had any true results using it on a hermi.

Sorry your electric meter is spinning out of control. It is sooo cold here it sucks. It is below zero! So my gas bill is going up and up....and up . With the colder air being drawn directly from outside into the grow room, I would have thought it would have been colder in there during the day, but the T5 & HPS seem to be keeping it pretty toasty...between 76-83. At night, once the HPS is off, it is down in the 60's in there. I have a dimmer switch that controls how little/much air that intake fan brings in, so I lower that a bit at night, and then I open up the vent from the forced air heating system (which we "cut" into the room). Pretty neat huh? I must be doing sumthin right in my marriage...LOL. BTW, I just sent you a PM.

Here are some pics to give everyone lurking a visual of how the room is progressing!

Turtle- yup I am sick. Shhhhhh don't tell anyone :-P. LOL

England- Wow, is that actually a hermi too? ROFLMAO

Danielsgrb- Thanks for the info! RiddleMe advised me NOT to cut the leaves back (when we thought she was a girl) and so I left her alone. However, once she turned hermi, I figured instead of giving her a funeral, I would mess with it, just as a learning experiment. Cutting off some of the leaves has made it a lot easier for me to see/handle removing any pods. Hell, if I even get an 1/8 off this plant I would be happy, seriously! That would last me a month...I know...u are probably laughing at how long it takes me to go through an 1/8 when some of you guys can go through that in a few days...
