if they are stressed by light malfunctions they can go hermy on you..that's for sure,,,,,
but if you are careful and do things on schedule for the whole crop...then they blast out the buds,,,,big and fat

When I first started growing ( like a whole year ago hahaha) I bought fem. seeds....I couldn't get my temps dialled in right away and two of 5 hermied, but late if that matters. I've been cloning from a Wh.Widow and cheese fem. and there doesn't seem to be an issue yet.

Hermaphroditism in cannabis usually occurs due to external stressors(light leaks, temperature problems, etc...). It CAN come from poorly bred genetics mind you, but if you stick to reputable breeders it isn't very common. A nice healthy mother plant will have no issues generally( I say generally because usually errors of that nature are due to the grower so it varies from person to person)

IMO it's mostly due to poor breeding.. it just expresses itself under those subpar conditions.

why else can you have a strain rock solid after many screw ups, and another throw nans if you fart in its direction.
stick with quality breeders (note: quality does not mean hype) and you'll really limit problems.

I gotta say I have not had a problem with anything I've bought from VSB. I have no intention of importing seeds when we have great stuff in this country!

There are always exceptions of course. Take for example DJ Shorts Blueberry and it's recessive leaf curl, it's also very prone to hermaphraditism due to light leaks. One of the most renowned breeders out there, but it just happens to be an attribute that one must accept with the strain. Not bad breeding in that particular strains case, but recessive traits from stabilizing land races.

lol, just start a new thread if you have any other questions leaf. I enjoy trying to answer any questions related to the subject. I'm also sure I can't be the only one here that feels the same either. After all , what good is knowledge if you can't share it or use it.

I've been told they are more prone to turning hermaphrodite if they encounter stress when they've been taken from a fem momma.
I'm really ignorant on the issue, genuinely interested though.

> no…more likely to herm from male female seed

I found that the BC God had unstable chimera and warped leaves. I partly eliminated the problem by killing the bad moms, but it reappears still. I have heard the god is unstable, but it is not prone to turning hermaphrodite. As far as I have seen there is not necessarily a link between unstable chimera, or plant morphology and hemaphrodite prone genetics.
Mutation occurs from breeding new stock as a percentage of the offspring, but i'm not sure if it is inherent in the parents of the stock i'm breeding from or a result of bad genetic combinations in the new stock.

The most powerful smoke I have ever experienced was sugar punch by sassny's seeds and that has a type of haze in it. I've just smoked that, not grown it. The best weed I have ever grown as far as potency goes is dr. green thumbs iranian haze, which is an early finishing haze.
