Fasting

I've never fasted, always thought it was interesting though, and I'm interested in the possible health benefits, if any, from it. That's mainly what I've been kind of skeptical about. What are the benefits of fasting as opposed to eating a normal diet?

When I used to work out a lot, I found it nearly impossible if I hadn't eaten anything earlier, as I had no energy to do anything. How do you manage that?

Good luck, bro
I workout soon after I get up in the morning and as I seem to not get hungry until at least noonish it seems to be working out fine.

Like I said tho it has only been two days. I think I will update as I am going. I'm dedicated to taking this as far as I can.

One thing I want to learn is how not to eat before going to bed. I always feel the need to put myself in a food coma before I feel asleep.

I feel like I have been having an easier time sleeping the last few days. On to day three.

Day Four is here. To tell the truth I didn't think I was gonna make it past two days. I think A good target would be thanksgiving.

I know I'm gonna eat on thanksgiving. Hopefully not before then.

I have fasted several times

It can be a great experiance for those that like to overeat (myself), I think most of society does not have a clue what it's like to actually be hungry

After the fast is over and eating the first food is a 'high' like no other , and different foods will affect you differently in ways we likely have ben told about but never experianced

I have tried to keep it to myself. I have to explain it whenever I do happen to bring it up. It is kind of annoying.

Everyone thinks I'm doing something wrong? Like I'm hurting myself.

I've never "purged" or "juiced", but once a year as part of a religious observance (the Day of Atonement mentioned in Leviticus) I've gone 24 hours without food or water of any kind. I used to think it quite difficult but the last few years I don't even get hungry (usually thirsty though). I do it strictly for spiritual benefit, but from what I've read there is definitely physical benefits. When you fast your body flushes out toxins (though if you where doing it for this reason I would suggest taking in liquids). Thus it is a cleansing experience physically. I also remember reading somewhere that some claimed that it allowed for mental clarity and improved scores on cognitive tests (though I can't vouch for this).

Has anyone here ever taken part in a fast?

If so how long?

Did you obtain from all food or just certain foods?

What liquids did you intake?
I fasted in 2008.

I fasted for roughly 40 days.

I just drank grape juice, for the most part, but I did have a tiny bit of snacks to be honest.

My x fiance broke up with Me (in 2008 ) and I was devastated. I would puke up vomit when I ate anything big. I would have fasted longer, I wanted to die, but I got sent to a mental hospital for being delusional.

~PEACE~

Sounds rough man. I'm doing it for myself. I got 30-40 pounds that been hangin around to long. Trying to do it as healthy as possible.

I have tried cutting calories, but the slow progress always drags me down.

So all out in this attempt. Getting all my nutrients, just without the calories.

I do feel less sluggish. I hiked several miles today. It really strains the body tho

You're not eating anything until thanksgiving?

I think it would be healthier to eat healthy food and get enough exercise, as opposed to fasting

One thing I forgot to mention was, drink juice whenever you feel hungry, don't limit yourself to 3 meals, you can't over drink, don't expect it will be detrimental to your weight loss.

I'm still feeling good. 3 is enough for me. I have yet to make more than that in a day.

That is what I started doing two days ago. The second day seems worse than the first.

The only thing I didn't cut out is milk. I have been drinking a tall glass of milk as well as 2-3 juices a day.

Mainly to stop any kind of muscle loss as I am working out at the same time.
you know milk takes calcium out of the bones right? switch to a rice hemp almond, hazelnut, or whatever other alternative milk
