I just got this plant this morning and it was already pre sprouted from a friend.
I hooked up my stuff and added the soil to the plant (pictures below)

Is this plant save-able and if so what do i need to do asap?

Heres what i got

Added the soil

Heres my setup (the light is way too close i moved it now.)

Is there hope for this?

yes you need to do that...

the incandescent lamp you have over it will toast that plant sooooo fast.
yah its already a tad burnt :(... anything i can do? change the bulb? i can switch to a lower watt..

thats a 250w plant light.

stick with me here!

EDIT: Heading out to a home depot now to buy a small fan to keep it on. I turned off the light for now. I also watered the plant some.

How much water exactly would i want to use?

im here im here...

check out my link at the bottom of me post. you can go with CFL's like I am using now, very available, efficient, and cost effective. you can go into any hardware store and pick them up. The best thing is they don't put off much heat at all. For now just back that lamp off like 1 1/2 feet.

Get 2 X 26W cfls on a Y splitter and keep about 2" above plant, and get a small fan .... I don't know your space..etc but these lights will get you through veg with good results, but more W is always better.......looks OK... a bit odd shaped, but healthy... Luck.

just picked up those new bulbs. Let me post my new setup

What do you think?
Better?

Current Temperature is at 70 degrees F.

If just launched a stop watch as well for the lights.

those so called "plant lights" purchases from walmart etc. with the blue coating are only used to show off house plants and bring out the shine and green color of plants, ,,, as for useable light...its worthless and costs you money get cfls or a very small hsp setup from home depot

thats the plan. This will give me plenty of time to build a larger container. Any Suggestions?
2 of those big totes for storing shit in work great, stack one on top of the other upside down (so both of the rims are together) and have your plant in the bottom and your lights coming through the top. you can add a few holes around the bottom of the sides(about 2 on the short sides and 3 on the long sides, about 1 inch wide each) and a few in the top of the whole thing, where the lights dangle through. this will let the hot air in an cooler air in. and having the lights come through the top will give you the easy ability to lower and raise them as needed. i would get the 42w or 45w cfl bulbs they have at walmart/home depot. they will work great for flowering. a fan in the bottom of the whole setup will keep the plants cool and the air movin. i would draw you a pic but dont have the time right now, if you need one or want one i can draw one up later, i love building this kind of stuff, i do alot of diy shit, walmart is my second home... which kinda makes me sad... but they have everything!
