EBB & Flow yielding abilities

Does anybody think that EBB systems are ideal for a commercial style grow? I want to be able to vegetate my plants for two months but don't know if those 1 and 2 gallon pots they have for sale are suitable for a 4 month old root system. Does anybody know how well these systems yield in general?

I want to run the 'chronic' strain from Serious and these plants are medium in size which might mean something.

Are they easy to build?

I have been using ebb n flow for a while now but i dont grow full plants i grow sog. but i recommend saving the money and buying the right trays because the diy ones never seemed to work well for me. With 0 veg time i normally yield 1 oz per plant in my ebb n flow.

Buy a 3x3 or 4x4 tray, buy your fittings online, and put it together yourelf. Like Magowner stated, buy the tray. The rest you can source yourself. That way if anything fails you can replace it for normally half the cost of buying the replacement from a premade tray.

Use Metal Halid during veg, and High Pressure Sodium during flower.

600 watt for a 3x3
1000watt for a 4x4

and your good.

The number of plants depends on the way you want to grow them. Bushes on a couple. SOG dozens.

what kind of pots did you run on your 3x3 to yeild an ounce? Also you say zero veg time. What was your medium too. CUrious, I would like to see your stats! I am trying to decide ways to flower next time. thnaks.

i use i think they are 5x5 square pots using straigt hydroton. i have 2 1000 watt lights on a 4x8 tray with 80 gal res right now i have 42 plants so 21 per 4x4. normally i have around 60 but i yeild a little lsst per plant about 18gs.

i found a pic 2nd week of flowering

Yeah man, hydroton 5.5" netpots with say 16 plants in a 3x3 tray with a 600W is what im running. Ebb and flow is ideal for commercial. I think it's less maintenence than soil if you have an enviornmental controller like a sentinel or a CAP controller. I use humbolt nutrients master A and B line minus the humboldt roots. Def recommend it. Just use as many 4x8 setups u want with 2000w per and you should be cranking out some chronic homey:weed:

oh yeah i found ebb n flow to be the easiest hydro to do. its basically fool proof. I have had good results with the general hydroponic floura series. nice fat dense buds

I have ebb n flow and have vegged for two months in 6x6x7 pots. These pots are more than enough to supports 4 month roots as some of the plants exceeded 10 feet tall. The downside for vegging that long is that the plants become crowded and the lower branches dont get as much light. Often ebb n flow is used for SOG growers who use almost no time for vegging, so I would say, that depending on how many plants your growing should directly relate to how long you wanna veg for.

i don't think that the strain i'm going to grow will be any taller than 4'. (chronic from serious seeds) but how many square feet do you usually need to dedicate for each of your plants? i'm wondering if i could vegetate my chronic for two months and still fit 9 plants into a 3x3 or 4x4. i'm hoping that 600 watts over 9 well vegged chronic plants will be enough to yield 2 ounces per plant, which would be just less than 1 gram/watt.

You could definetly fit the 9 plants in a 4x4. I've never grown the chronic, but i think with the setup you're using, 2oz per plant is a good goal but most likely not realistic under 600w. If this is your first grow with a strain and you expect a gram per watt, your always gonna disappoint yourself (at least i always do). Also, are you vegging under 600w as well? Cuz if I veg for 2 months under 1000w, my plants are 3 1/2 foot tall already, then when I put em into flower they double in size. This can create a problem in an ebb n flow setup with height restrictions. Just thought i should give you a heads up on what problems you might run into. Hope your grow turns out great though. thanks for the heads up bro. i won't be vegging under 1000's, rather T5 lighting to save electricity. i've heard that t5's are good for veg because of light distribution and the ability to get the bulbs close. plus, i plan on using the bottom branches of my plants going into flower for clones. i'm hoping these factors, along with the fact 'chronic' is a high yielder will compensate for the 600 watt hps. i also plan on using c02. i would use a 1000 watt, but i'm actually going to have three 9 plant trays, and 3000 watts for flowering lights alone is not an option for me at the moment.

good to hear that a 6 inch pot can take a 2 month veg. I have vegged in the 5 in turngarden pots for 3 weeks with rockwool and I did no know if they could go garther. I hear of people getting 18 ounces in turbgardens! That is 14 plants in 5 - 6 in square pots. I am curious.
