Well I just done a res change yesterday and used 5 gallons of distilled water... after adding nutes, sink water, distilled water, pH up... i got a pH of 5.8 on the dot :D ... well i went to check my pH today because i had noticed that my PPM had risen and I droped the damn pH meter in the damn res water.. so it shit out on me.. im going to go check on it and see if it survived the fall...
:leaf:
Whats happening is ur plants are drinking the water and not eating or ur water's evaporating and nutes are left behind of course it normal man..Keep ph in check everythings cool.

its probably wat dl said. if u top of your reservoir with ph'd water and the ppm drops then your fine. but check you ph levels as dl said and if they are high then it mite be the nutes. maybe to strong. dont really kno much about fox farm only wat i read.

Because I only had 5 gallons of distilled water and i wanted to have 6 gallons so the water could be closer to the bottom of the net pots. I see some new roots trying to grow so i wanted the water to touch them so they could have a reason to grow bigger... Just a one time experiment... it was actually britta water with a ppm of 215 ruffly... and a pH of around 7.0

I would like to check my pH but i think my pen is junk... and i can not trust its readings

EDIT: Ash i did not top the res off with any extra water... I have not done anything to it since I done the res change yesterday....
thanks dl!!!! hey green y'd u add sink water and distilled water?

Hey green get a fish tank ph kit untill yours dries out or new one arrives, its what I usee and you can get it pretty damn close in mean time. You not still using the soil FF nutes are you?
DL- I use adv nut. micro for the whole grow, get all the micros you need. And prob. some you dont need.LOL
Eddie- fans looking great rock on dude.
Hello everyone else here.

Sup tech yea i personally think i need to use micro and even macro nutrients in my sog tubs for real.. Im pretty sure its the key to the equation its gotta be man ive tried it all. I think the micro gonna really make things frosty for some reason.

TechGrower: I went and got the foxfarm hydro nutes and i no longer use the dirt nutes... i have some pH test strips but they suck monkey balls and are hard to read... I might just order a new pH pen .. i did adjust this pen but it still is not steadily accurate when i test it in the 7.0 solution... the numbers are allways jumping around the damn place:bigjoint:

ash: your hot as hell, whats up

Earth those pens are garbage man but accurate if u actually RE- calibrate every check.. i know its a pain in the ass.. But order or pick up 2 different types of calibrating solution the 7.01 as well as the 4. whatever and calibrate it to both by using the difference in the calibrations.. They do work u just need to pimp them out bro. Techs right i used the fish tank ph test kit for ever man.. And will get u close depending on what kind a nutes u use.. I think the salt in some nutes will throw the freshwater test kits off and the saltwater test kits dont strip low enuff.
by whatever means neccesary make sure ur ph is at least consistant and as close to 6 on the strip.

DL- how do you do water changes if in a sog top colas in a net, do you have to make net adjustable as well to change out tubs?

Bro ive never used a net man but if i was u id connect a piece of half inch hose to a tiny submersible pump thru an extra whole if ya got one and pump it to the nearest drain or right out into a 5 gallon bucket next to the tub..Man please make life easy i think u can set up a pump and enuff hose for like 15 bux bro. Worth every penny.

Green-you did say you got the hydro nutes- mybad.(or nuts-wheres slowtoke). How do the strips compare to the fluaction of the pen?

techgrower: the strips are hard as hell to read... it doesn't even remotely resemble the possible 5 color choices of the chart.. the pH pen tells the exact number of the pH ... if the pen is even accurate... so im starting to like the pen more then the strips.. that is if i can get the damn pen to function properly

THats scrog bro id deffinetely reccomend a screen on smaller growing yielding strains like pure indica's and such..
Mine start around 5 inches and top out @ 40 or a lil more..
Theres alot to scrogging i think and alot of benefits like topping and growing multiple tops on a plant bush style..I think screening would be used for uniform growth growing with those kinda techniques applied.
Im sogging.. Just growing single xmas trees..I chop my lower branches off in the early flower weeks and just concentrate on top growth.Lollipopping Al b fuct style.
In the end i think they are all used to better apply light source and lumen output to an actual area of grow..
U can use lower wattages closer to plants and still achieve proper wattages per sq ft and u could do this easily by using a screen and getting lower wattage lamps closer to plants..
Either way its all pimpin.

Yea thats scrog, usually soil grows thats why its hard w/ dwc.Green- You supercrop and topp plants then grow through a net, screen, loose square, all become sea of geen colas through top of screen. easier to do with aeroponics since nutes are in seperate tub.
Thanks DL!

Dont forget about super cropping scrog style ive seen some awesome stuff like this..dont even have to top and grow the lower colas along side the main tops which always yield the most i dunno much on it but i think i stole a good link from tech haha regarding this style as well just as promising and achieving the same goal..
with a screen i think super cropping would be insane
